Forums - Sony - Purchased Move today. Initial Impressions.

I've always been interested in Move tech ,but now I'm really really interested , it's just that I'm concerned about the space in my room , it's like 3 feet between my new 1080p Bravia ( Yay XD ) and my bed .

It goes without saying that I have to wait for about 2 weeks until I get my salary , I'm kinda broken after the TV purchase XD

Just wanted to point out that a buddy at work informed me that Wii Archery in WSR controls very similar to the version in Sports Champions, minus reaching for the quiver to get an arrow. He says you can aim your shot with the nunchuk?

I need to try this out now, but I don't have a motion plus.

Here's how it works basically. You hold the wiimote in your right hand and the nunchuck in your left, you pull back with the nunchuck as if that's the hand you're holding the arrow with and then you aim how you would naturally aim.

Good to hear you like it, I'm still waiting for the right game for me as I bought mine without a game. The only exciting demoes so far are R.U.S.E. (but I don't like RTS, so whatever...), Heavy Rain (fuck yeah!), echochrome ii (pretty sweet) and Beat Sketcher (I'm having loads of fun with this, even if it is incredibly simple xD), everything else was pretty meh, one way or the other.

In other words the experience is completetly different?

Let me see if I have got this right.

1.) In my right hand I hold the nunchuk and in the left I hold the Wiimote.

2.) I pull the nunchuk back and use the Wiimote to aim where I shoot.

So does that mean that I will look as if I am holding a shotgun and not a bow? I ask this because I want to know will be pointing the Wiimote towards the screen instead of just holding it straight up and down like done with Sports Champions?

That is why I like it on Sports Champions so much. You hold exactly the way you would hold a bow and not need to break the experience by having to hold the bow like a gun, as done in games like Metroid Prime.

To me that already makes both controllers completely different.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

I was playing just fine with ~2-3 feet between my couch and TV.

Afterwards I ended up turning my TV and playing on an angle to give me a bit more room.

You can adjust the PSeye camera settings to zoom in or out, enabling you to play in smaller and/or larger spaces. Just turn the camera lense from red to blue or vice versa.

No, you hold the wiimote upright and aim like you would if you were holding a bow. Like Sports Champions I presume.

Then how do you aim if you're not able to use the pointer?

I think I need to watch a video on Youtube.

You move the "bow" up and down, etc. It's not really the nunchuck that aims, I think it depends on how the wiimote is tilted.

Alright, I am watching a video and I think In understand how it works. However it still seems different since you don't really get to pinpoint your shots and it also seems to be no weight pulling down your arrows. They seem to just always fly straight forward as if on a string.

I may pick up a WiiMotion Plus and try it out to see if the differences are as noticable as I think they are.

Anyone play both and able to comment on whether or not they play and feel the same?

Im telling you right now, practice table tennis. You cant just try to slam it down people throats you need to guide the ball the same as in real life. Once you figure it out its insanely rewarding.

I actually find it too easy, which makes me think that there are loads of assists on. I feel like I could play most of the shots that I am playing, but less frequently, and I don't actually feel I am quite doing the right thing

So far, I just have 1 move controller and sports champions. I have enjoyed the game so far, but I feel I am suffering because I am too close to my TV and I don't quite have enough room to move...

The other slight problem is also due to my proximity to the TV. My TV is basically on the floor, and I sit on the floor, so it is an issue when standing up close to it, so the way to get it to work is to tilt the PS Eye back up... but then I have to adjust the move when I try and playing sitting down which is quite annoying

I have ordered a second move, and a navigation controller as the demos of RUSE and Heavy Rain got me very excited. I am very impressed with the precision and comfort of the controller. Having said that, the curved shape means that I find it hard to be sure precisely what angle the controller is at when playing table tennis, as it does not mimic the shape of the table tennis bat's handle, but I reckon the curveyness is best for most things

Playing on a higher difficulty level would probably change your thoughts on table tennis...

I've just unlocked silver and it does feel slightly more of a challenge, but I would still like to know what is going on

You have essentially sold me on the Move...sad thing is usually I'll hop on craigslist to save a quick buck...(Bad Company 2  day after release for $35) and nothing on there yet....I guess that says something about PS Move right there.

I haven't played Sports Champions with two Move controllers so I can't really go in-depth, but I've put a ton of hours into Archery on Wii Sports Resort. The aiming feels identical based on my experiences so far. The arrows never just fly straight in WSR, you have to start compensating for wind and start figuring out how to use the wind to curve the arrows to hit the target and whatnot...
