Forums - General Discussion - Communism Vs. Capitalism

Mafia is italian.
There is a Russian Mob though.
Communism = Everyone works as hard as they can and receives equally. Those who work hardest get the least out of their work. Talent never equals reward
Capitalism = You get paid whoever has the money wants to pay you. Be the guy with the money. Those with less to start with receive the least from their effort. Talent can equal reward, but luck is required.

Both have their flaws when taken to extremes, but no society has demonstrated either in a non mixed capacity, so theoretically, both are shitty, but both have fueled the world in a sense. Very few people accept the theoreticals of each, but the realities kinda show that the theoreticals will never come into play. Someone will play an eat the rich card, and someone will play the we want bread card. I'm not sure why I was thinking of the illuminati card game.

Its already been proven tons of times over the past 100 years that captialism is better and that communism doesn't work. I would explain more but I'm tired so maybe tomorrow.

They have this billboard that occasionally pops up near the Union on LSU's campus. It's basically there for people to write whatever they want, whatever comes to mind. One day I was walking by and saw that somebody had written, "Cuba has a 0% unemployment rate. Why can't we?" I almost died laughing. Yes, let's all live the wonderful lives of the Cubans.

It is so full of shit. In Cuba, some women sell their bodies for less tha a McDonald`s meal. Is that they idea of a job. I have heard stories that some of the prostitutes take the clients to their homes where they live with their parents and kids (in most communist countries there was 2-4 families per house).

Cuba has a lot of good things compared to the rest of Latin America (near 0% analfabetism, high life expectancy), but they are so poor that in most houses they use old newspapers as toilet paper. A medic makes less in a month than a guy who run errands into a Hotel (tips in dollars are worth a fortune).

Exactly. It's absolutely horrible. Not to mention, if it wasn't for the profit motive, we wouldn't have near the technological advancements that we have today. Cars, computer technology, medicine, etc. all comes from Japan and the US, the two most capitalistic countries in the world.

Mixed economies tend to be best, contrary to popular rhetoric, government can play a role in the economy when you end up with issues where market failures occur, to ward off collective action by losers in the market through social programs, and to deal with issues where acting in our own best interest actually doesn;t lead to the best outcome, where it in facts causes everyone to suffer, and todeal with market inefficiencies like monopolies and monopsonies, or in some cases maintain such markets

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Communism never works because they never get past the first stage.

A strong dicatorship is supposed to set up shop, make things even, then slowely fade away while people get used to not having a "ruling group" above them.

The strong dictatorship never fades away however because the strong dictatorship always ends up liking being a strong dictatorship.

There is no perfect form of government or economy... because all forms of government have human involvement.

I perfer a system that is about 80% capitalism with everyone that relates to people just staying alive being in government control. Things like food, healthcare, water... etc.

The problem with the world economy is there is nowhere near enoguh resources in the world to provide everyone in the world what people in the 1st world would consider a "reasonable existance."

We make it worse through a number of wasteful practices, but even so, if we wanted to live at balance and a achieve a world communism... the kind of lives the average person in a developed country would have to downgrade too would likely send them crying. Home interent use and videogame consoles would be a thing of the past, i could tell you that much.

@Soriku:

That might, MIGHT, work on the scale of a small town, or tribe, much like the Native Americans. However, it would never work in a large scale economy like we have today.

I'll take my technology, thank you very much.

Unfortunately communism will never work. Human nature gets in the way. Somebody will always want more than someone else.

The trick is to have a socialized republic.

well that will never happen in the USA. Damn politians. If only Ron Paul would win.

LOL, here comes Ron Paul in this argument OK, my 2 cents might come...now. Give me a few minutes...

Maybe...

Ron Paul supporters are really overdoing it... there are Ron Paul signs everywhere and I've already gotten calls from him. Overcampaigning to the point where its realy annoying to people will backfire, you can ask Howard Dean.

(I wasn't talking about ssj12 in my post but rather a lot of people I know)

What happened to socialism? Communism as a system is considered debunked right now because of world events in the last 20 years. There's always the argument that communism can't succeed until capitalism is destroyed but it looks like that theory isn't going to be tested soon. Unenlightened despotism is on the rise all over the place.
