I think it needs a mini-move and nav controller for on the go motion control! That would be awesome.

Seriously though - More intergration with the PS3. I said in a post in another that it would be cool to be able to play PSP games on PS3 then save them and continue to play while on the go!

Maybe make it a phone too??

I really really don't know. I have had a PSP since launch and I really don't play it that often, I just save it for long trips, though it might end up being my only console at university, which should breathe some life into it. The issue is that for short journeys (the daily commute) I really don't think it can compete with a smart phone. It can of course take some of the market, but anyone who has an iPhone/Android/WP7 (Blackberry?) will not take a PSP or DS because they don't need them.

Personally, I see the PSP as more of a console for when you are away for more extended periods of time, rather than something for everyday use. So to further that, a second analogue stick, trophies and better PSN support would be good.

If, however, Sony wants to go after the iPod touch market, then they need to change things more. The PSP go's form factor is much better, and with a lower price, things could be much better. I have said before, that I think Sony need to take advantage of cross-platform stuff more, so allow better connectivity between PS3 and PSP so you can play some of the same games on both. I also think a touch screen would be great for this, as it does help SOME games, even if in many cases physical controls are a must

As for games, allowing it to play Android games might be a start and using other Android apps, even if it is not a phone, so you could use the Android google map app through wi-fi. That would give it a large library of content, and with Sony's own content as well, it will have an unmatched level of games

I am not convinced that a PSP phone is the answer, as I feel for it to be a good phone, its PSPness might be comprimised, as the form factor for a phone is not right for gaming. My other major area of concern would be battery life. The PSPs is fairly rubbish as it is, and smart phones aren't that great and if you start to add in heavy gaming, then they basically disapear

So I'm not sure what Sony should do, but I think some integration with Android might be a good idea, and better PSN support would also be great. A touchscreen should probably be there, and probably a second analogue stick (but then you really need L2/R2 and I am not sure how you can make those and make it slim)

Make something close to this -

Games - Don't be afraid to splash out on developers and encourage them to work on PSP2. Offer to publish and advertise the games for them. New, original games... Only available on PSP2.

Don't put Valkyria Chronicles 4 on it.

Make that screen a touch screen.

Give it a UMD Drive, for backwards compatible PSP games.

Give it full PSN support.

Give it a camera on the front and back.

Sony also need to keep the Japan support they have on PSP right now.

Make it possible to play games like Call of Duty online while on the go.



                            

Simple yet fun and deep games, no piracy, and $199 or less at launch.

5.  Aggressive Pricing:  Price it near the 3DS.  Whatever that console costs, price the PSP similarly.  The less bulletpoints that the competition has, the better.  Cost $100 more than the competition, and the battle is over before it even starts.

6.  Don't push graphics too much:  Because, as it stands, graphics on the original PSP are pretty damned good.  A slight improvement would be welcome but don't spend tons and tons of R&D on technology that won't be appreciated by anyone except a small minority.  On a relatively tiny screen, "good enough" is good enough.

7.  3D screen:  So people will say they're copying Nintendo.  Who gives a shit!  Copy them!!  This is one selling point that Sony can't afford to overlook.  No matter how good the graphics, how sharp the screen, or how good the games, there are going to be people who get a 3DS simply because they're curious about the 3D.  Sony needs to be able to say, "Hey!  We have 3D, too!"  Hell, if they're lucky, there will be those that think Sony's 3D is better.

Doesn't 1 contradict 3? Don't most console ports require the two analogue sticks to be played effectively but most standard handheld games don't really need them at all.

Doesn't 4 contradict 5 and 6 and 7 and 1? If you have a huge screen it isn't pocketable and you need to spend a lot more on batteries and higher performance components and the 3D screen is going to be far more expensive. So you're returning it back to a glorified home console on the go.

The problem is that all the hardcore users want to take the PSP in the direction where it'll be least profitable or least popular. Why don't you decide on a direction you want the PSP to go rather than taking it in all directions with all 7 points. You have to compromise somewhere as does Sony.

What I'd like.

Who wouldn't want wireless for $50 a year? It's not up to Sony, it's what the wireless companies charge. I want steak and lobser for the price of a mcdonalds hamburger too.



Anyone can guess. It takes no effort to throw out lots of predictions and have some of them be correct. You are not and wiser or better for having your guesses be right. Even a blind man can hit the bullseye.

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

It should be something that makes the PSP2 a strong alternative to the Nintendo 3DS, something that makes it different, a unique gamestyle that no other portable has thats why im thinking multitouch touchscreen and sliding physical buttons.

It should be mostly good casual pure fun games like the DS but take advantage of the online and media component that Nintendo doesn't focus meaning Android, apps, Netflix, facebook, twitter, music services, web browser, camera.

Hell, I'm describing an iPod Touch with sliding physical buttons (2 analogs nubs) and deeper games.

Would you buy an iPod Touch with sliding physical buttons and deeper games?

to start - 3d screen on PSP2 would not be efficient. nintendo already experimented, the effect is lost to finger prints and scuffs. 3G is not nessicary. Smart phons have this tech and it gives off TONS of RADIATION. thats millions of people world wide with potential cancer being glued to their ears (more so eyes, and fingertips since no one actually uses the phone to call any one anymore). WiFi is good enough. 

Browsing? you dont need a powerful interface just for email and web surfing, would be nice if it were faster for sites such as Youtube and Veoh, but not much you can do in the way of a portable. 

Touch screen would be nice, but just think of the energy drain. Dual nub? get a PSP PHAT or SLIM, cut a small hole in your case, and follow the Dual Nub tut. you can find it on GOOGLE. PSP2 does sound cool, and after the PSP Go! im not sure if i will own a 2 (like my 2000 and 1000)

what we need - ABILITY TO PORT HOMEBREW without the need for hacked firmware. Alot of the games people put out are really nice, like the Halo DS project, Doom port for PSP just to name a few. If Sony lets people write code for a smart phone, why wont they let people write code for a PSP?
