I was actually born in France and have lots of relatives there. I spent every summer there from age 2 to 15. Used to love how French people pronounce English and other languages. Especially when my cousin used to talk about Jamal Mashburn and Shaquille Oneal, and Charles Barkley.

The French are horrible at pronouncing English names especially Heather which ends up sounding like He-zer or Keith sounding like Kiss.

Here in Quebec we do have a big accent when speaking English but at least we get most names right.

I'm actually pretty sure that their last name is "super mario" As in Mario Super Mario, and Luigi Super Mario. At least that is how the title of the game makes it look.

Their last name is Mario.  Yahoo has it correct.

I remember racing Charles Martinet in Mario Kart at E3 2005.  He wasn't very good at it.

Most of these are pretty simple for long time Nintendo fans.  They should have really gone deep with facts about how he got his name, why he's Italian, why he wears a red shirt and blue overalls, why a mustache, the clouds and bushes in SMB are just palette swaps, Mario's jump in SMB's is timed according to psychlogical feedback, what characters can steal his hat, etc....
