Forums - Nintendo - Let's talk about Kirby's Epic Yarn...

Traditionally, a Kirby title selling 1 to 2 million units is a success.

I find it funny how Epic Yarn is the one garnering all this attention while Super Star Ultra is the best selling game in the series in the past 5 or so years.

Probably Epic Yarn's biggest hurdle is not being on the DS.

Pixel Art can be fun.

I think lifetime sales of 4-5 million world wide. Two million is a very pessimistic outlook. Will it flop, heck no by any standards even a million would make it a success. Look at Pikmin during the GameCube era it broke a million with both titles and Nintendo as well as gamers considered it a huge success.

I think Kirby will do way better then the likes of Pikmin. Meaning it will be a huge success.

I highly doubt it'll pull off a NSMBWii situation but it'll sell a mil in japan at least, no idea about NA & Others

This game is from Feel Good.  The same guys that gave us Wario Land: Shake It.  Considering that title never made it to 1 million and the studio is still making titles, I doubt they'll need to do too much better on Epic Yarn.

Yeah. Well i think this game is mostly meant to do well in Japan. Second on the list is NA, but i think expectations in EU weren't big hence it isn't a holiday title. Still being a holiday title, especially for Nintendo who have had a lackluster first half lineup, means that they expect significant sales, and in a short period of time, and not a game that might crawl to 2 million over the long run.

Doesn't matter what studio made the game. Kirby is a bigger IP then Wario and having played the game it is a much superior product. Also Wario Land had to compete with many of Nintendo's bigger IP's during the holidays where as Kirby and Donkey Kong basically have no competition on the Wii. Their are no bigger titles coming to the Wii this winter/fall.

I stand by my bet, think of it like Mario Galaxy came from the same studio that did Jungle Beat, yet Mario Galaxy sold over 8 times the amount of copies. In the world of Nintendo you can't count a title out just because the studio's last game failed to generate significant sales.

Also keep in mind that I expect Country Returns to outsell any and all of the Metroid Prime games. Again same studio but the IP for Donkey Kong is much bigger then Metroid.

4-5 million would be exceptional imo... however i think that is near to impossible. And several things about this game seems unappealing to many unfortunately(the no dying system, being too cute and all, etc). i just see it not getting the sales it deserves. Up to now it seems like a better game than DKC:R (although i might change my opinion when a trailer or two show up).

game comes couple days before my bday...i wonder who i can convince into gettin me this as a bday present and save myself 50 bucks

itll do well but sales will be cannabalized by DKCR

Umm...we are on VGC 3.0...

@ OP

I can't talk about KEY...It's way too cute. In fact, I think if I play it and beat the game, I will gain my virginity back.
