Forums - Nintendo - VGC Official Pokemon White/Black Thread

So they decided to 'shake up' the rules/formula of Pokemon and defy expectations by adding routes, towns, a home village with a Pokemon Professor, a Rival, an evil Team, eight Gyms with badges, an Elite Four with a Champion, legendaries, event-only Pokemon, HMs, and at least one each of a Forest, Cave, Ocean and Haunted Tower?

If that passes for a shakeup, will we ever get a Pokemon where what happens next is a surprise? For example, around the time of the 7th Gym I KNOW the Evil Team is going to execute their plan and I'll have to fight through their HQ with some Poision-type-using grunts then the Admins then their leader who will claim he's not evil but plans to change the world through use of a legendary Pokemon. Then I KNOW my Rival will show up in Victory Road for the last time and afterwards realise (s)he was mistaken to take that attitude.

Serebii.net has discovered the names of the starter final evolutions:

#497; Jaroda - Royal Pokémon - 3.3m, 63kg - It overpowers it's opponents as it holds its head high. It is only when fighting a tough opponent that it unleashes its full strength.
#500: Enbuoo - Big Fire Pig Pokémon - 1.6m 150kg - It grows a beard of flame. It learns fighting type attacks that combine its speed and power.
#503: Daikenki - Dignity Pokémon - 1.5m 94.6kg - Part of the armour on its front legs is a sword. It can intimidate its opponents simply by roaring.

It seems that the 8th Gym Leader is a different person based on what version you are playing.

According to Bulbapedia (and already seen here), the game has shipped early for some folks in Japan, and they're taking advantage of it!

News will be coming out more and more as the day goes on. Looking good so far!

(Thanks for the sticky!)

EDIT: Lol, I bet I know which starter Jarrod will choose. ^_^ (#497; Jaroda)

I want a full list with images of all the Pokemon!

Any ideas when we're gonna get one?

Uh... like... official images or just shoddy screenshots? 'Cause if it's the former, then it may be a while.

If it's the latter, then I expect that to be up and around sometime this week. (Because you know there'll be some people that will play this game without hesitation until everything is caught, beaten, and completed.

G/S had:

Flying
Bug
Normal
Ghost
Fighting
Steel
Ice
Dragon

B/W has:

Grass/Water/Fire
Normal
Bug
Electric
Ground
Flying
Ice
Dragon

I would not call them the same. However, we're in the 5th generation and still no Dark Gym.

I noticed that as well. It's very interesting... and somewhat disappointing (seeing as the Dark type is my favorite!). Still, this could mean another Dark type Elite Four member, and I'd be all for that. Judging by how that Dark/Ground Crocodile evolution is going so far, the third will be a fearsome beast, and don't get me started on the pseudo-legendary Dark/Dragon type! *shivers*

Also, I've been editing in the Pokedex as fast as my fingers can go!
