Forums - Gaming - Halo Reach: Giving into the hype. Need your opinion.

I think you should get an ultra cheap 2nd hand phat360 and just store it away when you're bored with it, so it's there when the rare occasional game/s come out.

I would consider the 360 and Reach option with the arcade bundle mainly because like Kinect I doubt we'll see the best of Move this year.  This means next year you will actually be able to choose which motion device interests you more too while still getting the Reach experience when everyone is talking about it and the learning curve isn't so steep playing the veterans.

Nobody can make the choice for you as we don't want to give you buyers remorse.  I personally think which ever route you choose you'll probably still enjoy so it ultimately comes down to how bad you want to play Reach imo.

If it wasn't worth it before it shouldn't be worth it now. Did you ever even play halo? If you havn't I would get Reach, but if you played the Halo series and obviously never thought you would need the 360 for it than move is the sweeter option.

Personally I'll be buying the move bundle soon, but I already got my 360!

Valid point here. I suppose the final word is how much of a Halo fan he really is, although if he SOLD his Xbox knowing full well that Reach was coming out in a year or so, why the sudden interest once again unless he's just getting swept up in the hype.

I actually bought my 360 right around the same time that Halo 3 came out (not as a fan of the series), so naturally I bought the game the day of release even though I pretty much bought the console to play Bioshock (not on PS3 at the time and I didn't have a game PC), Orange Box (same), Tomb Raider Legend/Anniversary (same) and Gears of War.

Turned out I didn't actually like Halo 3 much even though it was at least worth playing through the campaign. Wasn't worth $60 to me personally though. I could have waited.

But, once again I find myself with another first day purchase of a Halo game, getting caught up in the hype (what can I say; good advertising works). And once again, there is the chance that when all the hype is over and done with and I finish the campaign, I'll be ready to move on to something else.

Then it's really just a matter of whether someone wants to spend a lot of time playing online. If not... probably not worth buying an Xbox just to play Halo again while it's the hot game to play.

Since you didn't like Halo 3 did you buy Halo: ODST by any chance. I'm curious because I love Halo since the original, but skipped out on buying ODST because I thought it was a ripoff for $60. Since I'm now buying REACH for sure I wonder how many people bought Halo 3, skipped ODST, and came batch for the REACH hype.

The campaign will be short I've read, but at least firefight can still be single player coop so you might get your moneys worth.

You know, I was going to, getting all caught up in the hype of the MS marketing machine once again, getting into the whole novelty of being a Recon grunt rather than a Spartan super soldier, but I think I ended up hearing from enough people/reviewers that it wasn't really a "full" Halo game, and not really worth my $60. Didn't help that the game was originally being pumped as a Halo 3 expansion. By the time the game was being heavily discounted, I had pretty much forgotten about it.

So I'm probably in the same exact category as you, which was more or less responsible for ODST selling significantly less than both Halo 3 and Reach (just based on pre-sales projections).

I'm not terribly concerned about "getting my money's worth" for Halo Reach. The game would have to be a complete trainwreck for that to even be an issue and all the early reviews pretty much confirm it's a hit on all levels. I just want a satisfying campaign, short or not (by my standards 5-6 hours being too short) that leaves me feeling satisfied when it's over.

Halo 3 fell short for the "conclusion" of an epic trilogy. And yes, I'll say that after finishing CE, I did find myself thinking "THAT'S how they ended the game?!" Let's just say I pretty much hate anything involving the use of the Warthog.

I say get the Reach Bundle cause that's what I would do if I had the money.

Well I know I've seen plenty more Warthog parts in Reach, but I'm not as much of an expert as many of the compleatly hyped guys on here so who knows. Just remember if you play coop all you do is call ther gunner position and you won't have to drive that boring warthog. lol.I personally though CE warhog ending was better and more challenging than the ending of Halo 3. So I agree Halo threes ending sucked, but I mostly was mad because I thought the campaign was to short. I don't care if they added filler levels with no story because Halo was always more about action for me rather than the story.

Well heres to REACH being badass only a little more time, to bad as usual when a big release comes I have tests all week keeping me from playing. If yur interested in firefight I'd be down to play when I have the time. PEACE

No it's not worth it to buy a whole console for just one or two games.

Anyways. When are the Halo silver consoles on sale and are there any released in Europe?
