Valid point here. I suppose the final word is how much of a Halo fan he really is, although if he SOLD his Xbox knowing full well that Reach was coming out in a year or so, why the sudden interest once again unless he's just getting swept up in the hype. I actually bought my 360 right around the same time that Halo 3 came out (not as a fan of the series), so naturally I bought the game the day of release even though I pretty much bought the console to play Bioshock (not on PS3 at the time and I didn't have a game PC), Orange Box (same), Tomb Raider Legend/Anniversary (same) and Gears of War. Turned out I didn't actually like Halo 3 much even though it was at least worth playing through the campaign. Wasn't worth $60 to me personally though. I could have waited. But, once again I find myself with another first day purchase of a Halo game, getting caught up in the hype (what can I say; good advertising works). And once again, there is the chance that when all the hype is over and done with and I finish the campaign, I'll be ready to move on to something else. Then it's really just a matter of whether someone wants to spend a lot of time playing online. If not... probably not worth buying an Xbox just to play Halo again while it's the hot game to play. |
Since you didn't like Halo 3 did you buy Halo: ODST by any chance. I'm curious because I love Halo since the original, but skipped out on buying ODST because I thought it was a ripoff for $60. Since I'm now buying REACH for sure I wonder how many people bought Halo 3, skipped ODST, and came batch for the REACH hype.
The campaign will be short I've read, but at least firefight can still be single player coop so you might get your moneys worth.
