Forums - Sony - SONY: £2 Million to be spent on PS MOVE Marketing in UK! (Big plans!!)

It is good to see that Sony is going to advertise the product but i do think they need to focus their Ads on the games coming soon too, like GT5 for instance!

I know that here in the EU GT5 is THE racing game to have but not everyone watches the events or follows online news about the games so getting GT5 known that it is going to release soon is key to the sales going to insane levels... DO IT SONY!!!

OMFG!!!!!!!!

Why waste money on PSmove? but no push for GT5? FFS!!!!! ARRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

don't worry GT5 will sell on name alone, nevermind the fact it's the ultimate driving simultor

I heard this before...

How much is the marketing for other games. Would be cool, if we had a ranking or something like that.

I start:

Halo Reach: 7 million USD
Halo 3: 6.5 million USD

Do you have proof halo 3 had that big a marketing spend? just wondering

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

What makes you thinking GT5 will have no marketing push ?

It says about money spent on move ads. It doesn't mean there won't be ads for GT5.

Where are you getting those figures from?

Edit: I see your link.

According to the wikipedia article on Halo 3 marketing the total cost came to more than $40 million.

Also according to this the Believe campaign was estimated at more than $10 million alone.

Conflicting figures it seems.

As for other marketing pushes as far as I can remember Ratchet and Clank had a £1m push in the UK.

The launch budget for MW2 worldwide was a whopping $200 million.  But that included packaging, marketing, producing and distributing the discs etc.

Left4Dead had a $10m marketing budget. The second had a $25m push.

Actually I think I might make a thread on this.

CORRECT HALO 3 would have had alo bigger than just $6.5m.its too small

plus the extra spent to market bundles and other giveaways later in the life-cycle of HALO 3

MW2 had a $160m campaign,Activision said it themselves that $40m was the game's budget and the rest $160m were for marketing for a total cost of $200m

all these games like GTA,HALO,COD have big campaign.no other way would you get these big pre-orders and first week sales

blah blah blah off topic, but;

blah blah blah halo blah blah. Blah blah blah Reach blah blah

ads on the x-factor is a good idea but would have been better if it was advertised with that dance dance game

Outside of the off-topic Halo conversation, this is really good news for Sony. They need to push this as much as they can if they really want the idea to stick. It can't do it on word of mouth alone.

Agreed. But i actually approve of this marketing strategy for sure. The Move was never intended or described as a huge deal. Wastign money upfront on ads would be pointless, those of us "gamers" will be there day one but in Spetember the audience theyre trying to expand to wont really care.

So instead of wasting money in august and sueptember they start on launch day, and carry it through the holidays making it easier to compete with Kinect/Wii holiday sales rather than going all for broke so early.

Finally something i agree with from Sony advertising department....sans Kevin Butler who i have found agreeable since day one, haha.

does kevin butler get a piece of that!? lol

EdIt: do they show those KB commercials over in the EU?

where are the move adverts here in the uk,

admittedly i don't watch much tv,but i saw two metroid adverts last week or the one before, but i haven't seen a move ad

can someone link them, they should advertise the hell out of the £285 bundle all the way to xmas,if you ask me
