Wait, Wii has more games in the top 20 than any other system?  When was the last time this happened?

  • Wii: 7
  • PSP: 6
  • DS: 4
  • PS3: 3
  • 360: 0
  • PS2: 0

Is that a good sign for the wii, or more of a bad sign for the others. The PS3 has nothing coming in the short term, the DS has been slow for a while (welljust before th epokemon frenzy), and the only console doing well is the PSP at the moment with steady releases. Let's see how this pans out

True, the only Wii games in the top 20 besides MOM are titles that released in July or earlier.  Mario Kart's still selling even, lol.

Doing the top 20 by titles released this month (August)...

  • PSP: 4
  • PS3: 2
  • Wii: 1
  • DS: 0
...and by titles released earlier...
  • Wii: 6 (4 in 2010, 1 in 2009, 1 in 2008)
  • DS: 4 (3 in 2010, 1 in 2009)
  • PSP: 2 (all 2010)
  • PS3: 1 (all 2010)

Yep, Wii is for casuals and doesn't sell hardcore software either ...

fixed. And by hardcore I mean games that tap very slightly on a casual audience, for example : not many games on the Wii.

I really really can't wait for the "hardcore" and "casual" buzz words to die. They are nothing but made up titles that attempt to categorize and divide gamers.

Wrong.

Hackers are poor nerds who don't wash.

...there's clearly demand for Wii software still, but looking at this it seems that companies really aren't meeting that demand with new titles, so consumers are still picking up old titles instead.  On the other hand for PS3, old titles don't seem to be able to maintain longer sales curves, and it seems new titles dominant and are quickly replaced in turn.
