And how did they stop the hackers again? You people think that eveyone out there plays online...
Also, it will be pretty funny if this hack makes ps3 work with emulators, lets it play PS2 games, and gives it lots of cool stuff. If they announce any cool stuff for the mod, I'm buying a PS3 immediatly.
Sad thing, a while back PS3 was the only console I honestly felt didn't need to be hacked.
They gave you freedom with linux
The supported user-generated content with Unreal Tournament 3, LBP, Modnation, EchoChrome, Joe Danger, and a number of other games
They gave developers freedom with how they develop their games, features and DLC
Option for 2 audio output sources
The supported a huge list of supported codecs [even without linux]
3D
They're now even pushing for full retail games on the PSstore [inFamous, SOCOM, burnout, warhawk, LBP, GT5p, Red Faction: G, PSP games, PS1 games and probably what ever isn't too big to go there and developers want to be there in the future]
Web browser
They gave us an optional photo editor
video editor
Mini-games on PS3 and PSP
Allow full access to media on your PS3 through you PSP and have plans to expand that to Vaio PCs and select phones.
In-Game XMB for checking messages and trophies mid-game
Motion controls
Scratch resistant disc eliminating the need for back ups
Can use any laptop harddrive and not being restricted to a proprietory drive sizes
Support for pretty much all mass storage devices through USB
Bluetooth Keyboard, Mouse and USB keyboard and mouse support
Allowing you to back up your system AND your downloaded video's from the store
They supported Indie devs
Support for not only their video store but also netflix even if that conflicts with their own store
Customizable XMB icons
Media streaming from your PC to your PS3
Free Online gaming
Fuck, you can even connect a damn printer to the PS3...
On top of all this, they made an entire section on their site devoted to us giving them our ideas on features we would like to see
Convenience, Freedom, features.
There's no real reason to hack the system other than "I want free games".
EDIT: A few more-
Automatic Updates for PS Owners
PS - Pretty much giving your free shit and tons of discounts over your subscription time.
What console games these days don't get a demo to try out?
Getting album info from the internet before you rip a disc to the system
Parental control options and multiple users

There is, and its really easy. Unplug the USB jailbreak drive and upgrade to 3.42 fw :)

I hope you're not talking software totals cause that's totally wrong... 360 and Wii are outright destroying the PS3 in software totals (360 by 100million units and Wii by 250million) in attach ratio, it's holding it's own but having a smaller install base helps with tie ratio, there's a reason the Gamecube ended up with a tie ratio over 10... so as a whole your claim doesn't hold much water, Wii and 360 are hacked it doesn't hurt sales, PS3 can get hacked, it won't hurt sales.
MaxwellGT2000 - "Does the amount of times you beat it count towards how hardcore you are?"
Wii Friend Code - 5882 9717 7391 0918 (PM me if you add me), PSN - MaxwellGT2000, XBL - BlkKniteCecil, MaxwellGT2000

I must be even slower than usually... Because I didn't see that. Still don't see it. But like I said, I must be pretty slow today.
Help me out with this line of thought guys:
Imagine I hacked my console, downloaded and played inFamous and earned a few trophies. After that I downloaded and installed Sony's hack blocking firmware and reconnected to PSN and updated my trophies. Would they be counted? I'm really hoping not, but I can't see how it can be avoided and I'd like to know your opinions on this.
I hate people who steal shit, it is cool to see how stuff works but promoting stealing is wrong so if the patch fixes the problem great if not I hope it is an IP tracer and all the thieves get huge fines and have their computers taken away.
