Can't say i expected this. Based on everything I've heard about Black & White - while any new Pokemon release is very exciting - the games themselves didn't appear to boast any definitive new features that marked an evolution or giant leap forward for the franchise; I am of course referring to included features such as Wi-fi battling and trading in Diamond & Pearl, the split physical and special system, the GTS etc. I suppose one could argue in favor of Black & White with Triple and Rotation battles, and the Dream World to an extent but i guess i didn't feel these were too major because of our lack of concrete information on them. Black & White not being a 3DS title also upset me a bit.
Now, don't get me wrong, i was just as excited about Black & White as everybody else, but it was more for the possible new Pokemon rather than any additional features. I guess i was less excited then when we anticipated the release of Diamond & Pearl. Seeing this perfect score from Famitsu though, seems to put me at ease somehow. A perfect score is no joke, i can only imagine that not only do the all of new features do justice to the Pokemon system, but that the team at Game Freak have touched up and improved upon the gameplay, adventure, story, music and everything that makes Pokemon the great franchise it is to such an extent that these games are more than deserving of their perfect score.
My excitement for these games has jumped. I cannot wait for Pokemon Black & White!
