Nintendo's way is better because as an investor you can benefit from their stock increasing when their video game systems and games do well. You can not expect to reap the benefits of Sony or Microsoft's success in the game industry through their stock.

Nintendo has some notable mascots, like Samus, Fox, Kirby, Mario, Luigi, Wario, Link, Ness, Bowser, Captain Falcon, Kid Icarus, and others. Sony does not, except for, maybe, Ratchet, Clank, Jak, Daxter, and a few others, but they aren't nearly as defined, or old, as Nintendo's. Sega has Sonic, and that's it. Microsoft has Master Cheif, and that's it. Sony, and Microsoft, definitely have the stronger third-party support... Or at least I think so, for the Wii has been getting stronger third-party support, lately.
