"You have been banned for the following reason:
vgchartz gets their numbers from a very special space: ioi's ass"

lol so ioi and gaf were lets say parteners? and gaf is jealous?

yes, but obviously they handle it in a very mature, grown up way.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

because the Vgchartz community are werewolves and the Neogaf community are vampires???

I always knew we where the cooler ones

Well for whatever reason they hate us its childish, and they just cant seem to accept the fact that VGC has weekly estimates that far surpass the 90% accuracy worldwide (!!!) and even if sometimes there are some errors, the numbers are updated asap ( even tough we all know how painfully long the wait can be for some :)) ).

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

Honestly, I did not even know who or what NeoGAF was before reading this thread. I spent some time perusing the site and am not surprised why they hate us.

They have:

1. Little to no advertising support for income

2. Lack of funding is transparent in their 2 forum categories "Gaming" and "Off Topic"

3. Less user base than VGChartz

4. Some good content, but it is hard to find because their gaming forum is a prime example of disaster in organization.

As for hating our numbers, I am a fan of skepticism, so long as it cuts both ways. They appear to be rabidly skeptical of VGChartz numbers, but they take NPD numbers as if they are mana from God. I wonder why?

In conclusion, NeoGAF is just another website beholden to the official industry numbers, which according to them is NPD and not VGChartz. I find their one-sided skepticism to be rather juvenile and premature. For all intents and purposes, NeoGAF can be a shadow website owned, operated and/or funded by the mainstream video game industry.

As for VGChartz, we do our best to get our numbers within a reasonable margin of error of the official numbers. Sometimes we are dead on, sometimes we are dead wrong, but at least we try instead of just bitching about other's numbers without conducting them ourselves. Our userbase is extremely diverse, we have some bad apples, some good apples, some thread killers, more than a couple trolls, more than a few flamers, some of us are batshit crazy, but all of us for the most part treat each other with respect.

I say "we" "our" and "us" because the community is this website. I myself may not run any numbers, but each of us collectively make VGChartz what it is today and that is the best damn gaming website, not some advertising website dressed up as a gaming website like IGN.

Here's footage of what happened when the team from Neogaf met our Boys from VGchartz at E3 '72.  It all started over a game of Pong.

We stole their mascot later that week.  It's been bad blood, ever since.

--Rare footage of VGChartz girl in action, at the end!!

this is what really happened!

That's a good thing

2. Lack of funding is transparent in their 2 forum categories "Gaming" and "Off Topic"

Wrong! They get plenty of funding. And the 2 forums work really well

3. Less user base than VGChartz

Right, but... A lot of vgc doesn't post. Neogaf has a much higher number of active members

4. Some good content, but it is hard to find because their gaming forum is a prime example of disaster in organization.

How is it a disaster? Everything is right there. Two pages instead of our 5.

Funny fact: When someone is IP banned from vgc thy are rerouted to neogaf

Sig thanks to Saber! :D

Little known fact:

When ioi was kicked out of GAF, he vowed that he would destroy it, and set 9th July 2010 (you've always wondered why all permabans end on that date, haven't you?) as the date for a mass attack. But when the day came, he realised how awesome we were, and how NPD was slowly failing, and cancelled it.

That is too epic for words, please tell me that's all true. ioi kicks ass on so many levels. ^_^
