Mass Effect 2 is massively overtracked here by the way.

Still hasn't been adjusted from that "1.6 Million sold" figure we got.

http://kotaku.com/5536720/bad-company-2-sells-five-million-fifa-sells-a-lot-more

We had perfect figures for Dante's Inferno, FIFA and Bad Company... But Mass Effect 2 was 1.6 Million sold on the 360 alone. Nevermind PC too.

Interesting. You should see what Brett has to say about that.

Though I'll point out that thee's no source cited for that conference call and they might not be including PC sales, nor is it illustrated the date up to which sales had been counted.

Well it was reported by a LOT of websites... And Nothing from EA to refute any of the claims. And as I said... Our numbers for every other game were pretty much spot on. I think we had ME2 on the 360 alone on 1.6 Million sold, so no PC sales, nothing on shelves and no DD sales.

Brett never replied to the claims or anything. I remember posting the link to the thread we had here to him but we got nothing.

You mean like this when EA said they already shipped 2 million in its first week ?

http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/27012/Mass_Effect_2_Sells_In_2_Million_Units.php

I mean in the link I posted that says they have had 1.6 Million units sell through (not shipped, including digital sales) at the end of March.

Try reading what's been said and the links posted before you try butting in with something completely irrelevant.

This thread sucks.

Why?  because it makes two horribly wrong assumptions:

1.  An 80 game is still a really good game.

2.  Anything that sells over a million isn't a flop.

Do they list their tracker?

No. Don't think so anyway.

IF they were using trackers though, I assume it's NPD for NA. Mass Effect 2's sales at NPD were 890k after the first quarter. VGC had them at about 1.25M.

Europe... No idea.

Alan Wake is AWESOME so others games on that list... only because they didnt sell well dont mean nothing... are great games!

idk, i wouldn't have put MAG above 2 million with optimistic predictions anyway, so i think it's a bit harsh to brand it an underperformer. It clearly was meant as an enthusiast title

FFXIII and Other M are also debatable, because in both cases the fans seemed to find it perfectly enjoyable, and the market at large agreed on FFXIII (jury still being out on Other M)

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Maybe it's just me, but it seems a lot of games this year are falling well short of the hype; whether it be critically, commercially or both. I mean, more than usual. While some games have managed to exceed expectations *Red Dead Redemption waves* here is my list of games that have disappointed in one way or another.

 Dark Void
59 Metascore, 0.35 million copies sold
Massive bomba on all fronts.

Final Fantasy XIII
83 Metascore, 5.7 million copies sold
Final Fantasy games consistently divide opinion among fans, but the critics always seem to love them. This one... not so much. (Un)fortunately, due to its multiplatform status, the shitstorm that could have followed this relatively low score was avoided. Sold well though!

White Knight Chronicles
64 Metascore, 0.64 million copies sold
O_o freaky.

MAG
76 Metascore, 0.90 million  copies sold
Scored okay... sold okay. But I expect more than okay from a first party Sony title.

Dante's Inferno
73 Metascore, 1.2 million copies sold
If you're gonna do a crappy job of ripping off God of War, DON'T release a month before the real deal. Disappointing from the people behind the brilliant Dead Space.

Alpha Protocol
63 Metascore, 0.32 million copies sold
Saw a fair amount of hype throughout this game's long development. Apparently, it didn't deliver.

Crackdown 2
70 Metascore, 0.60 million copies sold
Quietly released to a resounding "meh".

Blur
82 Metascore, 0.40 million copies sold
I'd like to say this tanked due to competition from the also great Split/Second, but that game flopped just as hard.

Split/Second
84 Metascore, 0.46 million copies sold
See above.

ModNation Racers
82 Metacritic, 0.46 million copies sold
Probably the best Mario Kart clone of them all but it failed to capture the market's imagination.

Kane and Lynch 2: Dog Days
64 Metacritic, 0.19 million copies sold
Saw that one coming.

Mafia II
74 Metacritic
Down 12 Metapoints on the orginal. It's not looking good at the moment.

Alan Wake
83 Metascore, 0.68 million copies sold
After 5 years of hype... that's it? Didn't help that it released the same day as the breakout hit of the year (Red Dead Redemption).

Lost Planet 2
68 Metascore, 0.89 million copies sold
To be fair, the first one wasn't much good either. But I personally had high expectations for this sequel.

Resonnance of Fate
72 Metascore, 0.55 million
And the JRPG genre continues its spiral into irrelevancy.

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
89 Metascore, 1.13 million copies sold
Take the 770,000 Japanese sales out of the equation and that's a pretty pathetic number for "Metal Gear Solid 5".

Valkyria Chronicles 2
84 Metascore, 0.17 million copies sold
VC managed to carve a niche on the PS3 but if other recent PSP titles are anything to go by, this game will struggle reach even half the audience of the original. Bad move, SEGA.

Y'know what, it might just be easier to say every PSP game released this year flopped :P

Metro 2033
77 Metascore, 0.29 million copies sold
Probably fared a little better on PC.

Metroid: Other M
79 Metascore
A blemish in an otherwise spotless line of classics. It remains to be seen if it can expand the Metroid fanbase.

Arc Rise Fantasia
63 Metascore, 0.10 million copies sold
Well, I knew it was going to suck...

Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands
75 Metacritic, 0.60 million copies sold
More like "The Forgotten Franchise" amirite?!

No More Herpes 2: Desperate Struggle
84 Metascore, 0.17 million copies sold
Desperately struggling to hit 200k. I blame the lack of promotional toilet rolls.

Red Steel 2
80 Metascore, 0.27 million copies sold
The first sucked, but was a commercial success. The sequel was good and flopped like a fish out of water. Ubisoft just can't win with this franchise.

Singularity
78 Metascore, 0.16 million copies sold
A 78 just doesn't cut it in the crowded shooter market.

Naughty Bear
44 Metascore, 0.24 million copies sold
I don't think anyone expecting this to be amazing. But it's just plain BAD.

Transformers: War For Cybertron
77 Metascore, 0.48 million copies sold
Strong brand name and a decent game to boot. Why wasn't it a bigger hit?

There are probably a few I missed, but I seriously underestimated the amount of time it would take to list them and I can't be bothered typing anymore. There's THAT many.

Discuss! Predict future flops if you like.

haha i loled at the no more heroes 2 comment, yeah its probably the reason lol,

and with Naughty Bear i watch a gaming show on tv and they gave the game a 1/10..

Why so aggressive Carl ?

You know, there are times where I like you (the past weeks for example) and times where I can't stand you and with that statement you're slowly heading into the other section again. I hope I'm mistaken about that.

I don't doubt that Mass Effect 2 might be a bit overtracked here and there, but you make it sound like it didn't even hit a million at the end of March.

I would've even accepted the 1.6 million number as shipped if it was for 360 only. With PC sales and digital distribution that number just sounds so fake.

But you also said that they might used a tracking service like NPD and Chart Track. There would still be quite a few regions left where they didn't got any numbers from.

Interesting. There's no unified tracker for Europe.

I wonder if it's possible that they meant North America only, but that seems almsot absurd unless the game was explosive on Steam.
