Forums - Sales - TV market share, LG > Sony

Doesn't LG = lifes good? Anyway, life must really be good for LG.

@Reasonable: You're wrong because I think you're wrong, ok?

That's okay, beacuse I think I'm right because I think I'm right!

Right now I'm buying mid-range, which for me would be Samsung or maybe LG, who I feel have improved a lot in recent years.

I tend to lean towards Panasonic at the higher end and prefer them overall.  Sony I find a shade better than Samsung and LG for image towards the higher end of the Sony range but I find Sony to feel pricing relative to the specifications.

So I'd probably only get a Sony TV if I found a specific deal that made it more appealing than the other options.

I think Sony advertise and push their TVs harder than Panasonic do, hence the order of the marketshare isn't really that much of a surprise to me as it's actually in line with how I view the price/marketing/image of the various vendors.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

I don't think I've ever actually seen an LG TV.

Which markets are they big in?

Youre from the UK and you've never seen an LG set ?

Seriously just go into any Dixons / Currys / Argos.

LG is a Korean company and its biggest overseas market is the country you live in !

I feel so alone as the sole Sony fanboy it seems. I am very very happy with my Sony TV which I got a few years ago, does everything great (as do my Sony phone, laptop and (my mum's) camera), and was actually reasonably priced

I have 2 HD TVs. One Samsung, and one LG =) Love them both equally. Might even like the LG a bit more.

Both times I went to buy an HD TV I didn't know what I was going to get. I had a price point, and simply looked at all of the brands and models and both times thought that the Samsung and LG looked just as good as the more expensive Sony and Sharp TVs.

I guess like most consumers i wanted the most bang for my buck so it seemed pointless to buy a Sony TV that had the same size screen and same quality picture and pay $100 more for it.

Don't worry I have a Sony T.V. to... though it was for my dad... and it's in the family room... and I can't really use it much.  But the best T.V. I've ever owned, I literally wanted to through my 32 inch T.V. from Sharp out the window after watching Dark Knight on my Sony T.V. (I love my Sharp T.V. don't get me wrong, it's where I game, but damn the years hasn't been kind to it).

LG are awesome, great bang for your buck. I have a LG 32LH7000 downstairs in the living room and a LG M2394D in the bedroom, both are brilliant and I was lucky to get the smaller LG at 1080p.

However I might also get a Sony Bravia KDL32EX703U next week for my bedroom and use the LG M2394D as a PC monitor.

Well "SONY fanboy," maybe I can cheer you up.  For the longest time, overall Panasonic was number one while SONY was number two because Panasonic products were cheaper but not quite as good as SONY's.  And I've predicted that LG will be the next Panasonic (good products at a good price even though they might not be the best).  It seems that I was right.  LG products are nice, very nice so I don't find it surprising for them to now be above SONY marketsharewise.  But I still find that SONY products are better that LG's.  But in regards to Samsung, they is some tough competition out there.  I current own a 55" SONY SXRD KDS55A3000 that I bough in February of 2008.  It was the best rear projection you could buy at the time, and I would have had to pay twice the amount for a flat panel of comparable specs.  And depending on the region and product, the "new" SONY have had very competitive prices than they did like 5 years ago believe it or not.  As a videophile, Samsung is great and they are making some waves.  But I still think that SONY still makes the better televisions, and if you can burn the cash to get that better television.  More power to you.

Hackers are poor nerds who don't wash.

I own two HDTVs and they are both from LG. I really love their tvs.

Sony is quality, but expensive, LG is nowhere near as good as SONY in terms of quality tv.. but they are very cheap
