why not? gears is a huge franchise especially in the us, if it cant reach 1 million pre orders their, how is kinect a casual device going to reach 1 million pre orders.

Completely different game, appealed to a different audience, it came out years ago, it just different.
Gears 3 is likely to get a million pre-orders. Even bearing in mind the Gears 2 didn't.

i know that gears 3 is likely going to hit a million pre orders. but the think is the 360 doesnt have a casual audience! especially in the us.

In fact after looking at the numbers more I'm gonna have to go ahead and say 500k is impossible let alone a million.
It would have to start adding at the MINIMUM 40,000 pre-orders a week to hit 500k. That is over a 400% increase of the rate its being pre-ordered now.
Not happening.
ofc 360 has casual gamers... those people who bought lips and so on... Kinect is aimed at those people and others that dont have Xbox yet.

It doesn't have a big casual audience like the Wii, but it definitely has a casual audience. Getting more casuals seems to be one of the goals of the Kinect as well.
Nintendo got the masses this gen by introducing innovative technology. MS is trying to get casuals by introducing innovative technology as well. So far the reaction has been pretty good even with the high price.
I also presume the Kinect and Console bundle for $299 is gonna be a popular item.
