Samus is a person, not a robot. You know, the guy who invented Metroid, wrote this story. It's as cannon, as it can be. Why would your opinion trump the one of the creator? He's the one who dreamed her up.

Oh, yeah: Maybe she looks like a kid, because at that point she is one, more or less.

So how old was she when she defeated Mother Brain in Metroid? 10?

My opinion matters just as much as the creator's since it is people like me who he is supposed to be catering to. The Metroid fanbase dated back to the late 80's. The same people who experienced over 20 years of Samus appearing as nothing more than a bad ass bounty hunter who explores, obtains cool weapons and topples Ridley, Mother Brain and who ever else tries to stand in her way.

The same people who see afterwards how she fights and defeats a Cyborg Ridley in Prime. The same woman who made by jaw drop when I entered "Justin Bailey" into the password screen on my NES and found out "Holy shit, that is a woman!".

A woman who doesn't let her emotions get the best of her, kind of like how Nariko in Heavenly Sword is a badass. No whining, no taking orders from "former superiors" when I am the one who saved the damn galaxy 2 times.

The same people who beat Metroid and saw "The Other Metroid" (Other M?) in the ending and knew this was the continuation to her multiple game long badassness (Is this a word?).

This isn't Samus. Especially a Samus who was never a whiny little wimp in front of Ridley before.

Why the sudden change now? You don't even question this?

My opinion is just as valid as yours, any reviewer's or anyone on this forum.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

So you wanted Samus to be a actionman with boobs?

Emotions don't make Samus weak. Maybe she talks a bit to much in this game (internal monolog) - haven't played it yet, so i can't say for sure. Even so. It's not like she runs away or something. It shows that every soldier experiences doubt, loss or fear. Before she kicks ass.

Do you think this is some reflection upon yourself?

And she follows orders because she's a bountyhunter, not a roque criminal. Do you think she should have shot Adam and his soldiers in place of listenings to an official authority? He's in charge. Anyway the whole thing is just a replacement for the traditionel 'losing of the equipement'. They just made it more logical.

I didn't say you opinion was invalid. Just that: Any creator gets the final voice on his or her created character.

Kid thing: Weren't you talkingabout where she has short, boyish hair? She looks really young there.

Now this has to do with me as a person and not anything to do with the way Samus has been portrayed to gamers for over 20 years?

So is made sense that she listens to Adam, who is a "former" superior. It makes sense that she is getting hurt by something and thinks "Well, I do have this features I could use, but I need to wait for his permission"?

You can't be serious.

As for the young thing. Could be, but she does seem very very young to me.

Doesn't mean I won't like the game itself, but the storyline will probably bother me greatly.

Think of Link in Twilight Princess dropping down and breaking out into tears when you think Midna is killed.

Would have killed that game. There is not defending it.

This is not the direction Metroid should be going, but it seems like we are not going to agree on this.

Have you been playing Metroid since the 80's?

o well, I'll still get it.

I just played it at my friends house for a few hours and honestly, the cutscenes aren't THAT long.

Tsss... not so loud, it's supposed to be a real, big deal. That's what this thread is about.

O.T. It seems your friend is a pirate.

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

Mean score on Metacritic is 80, median score is 84.5. Shows that there's one or 2 particularly low reviews bringing the average down at this stage. For most games the mean and median on metacritic ar much closer, so it'll be ineteresting to see whether the median drops towards the mean, or the mean rises towards the median.

Yeah, unfortunately he is. But hey, I'm not complaining, it's like I get free demos ;D

To be fair, just because they're the original creator doesn't mean that their vision is automatically best. We all know where George Lucas took Star Wars, after all (though i enjoyed the prequels, the drop in quality was apparent).

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

That's about what they gave Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, so I'm not too worried. And the complaints seem like they can be overlooked by me, so bring it, Tuesday!

That was one of the two games they gave a very bad score and its one of my favorite, so I just realized that my tastes and theirs were not in synch, so I didn't renew my suscription and never looked back.
