Forums - Gaming - Is it just me or is the 360 low on exclusives in 2011 vs the PS3?

He sounds realistic...you do know what the Xbox library is up against for 2011 by reading this thread if anything, don't you?

...not that much?

Because most of that PS3 lineup is just "more of the same". R3, Infamous 2, KZ3.

Lost Guardian is the only gigantic title IMO and the only Ps3 exclusive I personally have on the radar after GT5.

Well that's just your own personal preference, anybody could say the same for any other lineup, not to mention your 360 list also includes like 6 sequels? haha...

And let's say the PS3 wasn't getting anything but exclusive sequels in 2011 (which is far from the truth, read this friggin' thread and inform yourself) what's wrong with more Resistance (previous game in Nov 2008), Uncharted , Infamous, Killzone, Ratchet, etc etc etc? The more the merrier! I'd rather have great sequels than new crap any day.

I know I know. The 360 is getting slain by PS3 next year. We will have to rely on multiplatforms.

I think you should save some money and buy a PS3...I mean, if you really are a hardcore gamer, I don't see the point in missing out so many games. You may say you're only interested in 1 or 2, but the truth is the PS3 gets 12-15 more exclusives every year (this year my count is on 16 exclusives not counting Move-only games) and most of them are good quality in diverse genres. People without a PS3 are missing out too much, imo, unless they only care for 1 or 2 games and most of the time only play the same stuff over and over (likely shooters over Live)...

I will buy a PS3 soon. I already have 4 games for it and Im very ecxited for Gt5 and Last Guardian.

Welcome to the Dark Side; Kratos, Nathan Drake, Cole, 2005 Lamborgini Concept S, Sackboy, Helghast, Rachet, Griffin and Boy, 3D Dot Game Hero, NiNoKuNi, DC Heroes, Selvaria and Ryu Ga Kotoku all welcome you to the family, enjoy the greatest party ever.

I love how these poor 360 exclusive lists seem to pop up every year, and they are always proven wrong.  They useually just turn into PS3 exclusive list circle jerks.

The 360 will have its fair share of exclusives, and even if it doesn't have as many as the PS3.  The 360's exclusives useually sell a lot better so things even out if your looking at it financially.

I highly doubt the 360 just has Gears of War 3 and some average at best Kinect titles for 2011. Although I am with everyone who is guessing Left 4 Dead 3 and Mass Effect 3 (if they are 2011) would be on PS3 as well.

That said, I do think PS3 will have better games in 2011 than 360 though.

Left 4 Dead 3 is the only big title IMO and the only 360 exclusive I personally have on the radar after Gears 3.

IMO that's always been the case with the 360's line up. More of the same, more of the same. Same old, same old. Been there, done that... Every year they release some of those regular titles, keep some of them for next year, add a few titles to the mix; and that's it, that's the line up for each year.

Gears

Halo

Fable

Forza

Mass Effect (no more ex)

L4D (I guess no more ex)

are the titles we hear about every year... And then they throw in the occasional other games like AW, Crackdown and SC, PGR and whatnot. If I were a 360 only gamer, I would be bored to tears by being given almost the same games to play each year. I would probably even stop playing games in general, because of the complete lack of variety in experiences provided. Let's take 3 of the biggest exclusives (at least here / on the net), Gears, Halo and Mass Effect. Even though they are very different in gameplay and are (imo) decent (Halo, Gears) - excellent (Mass Effect) games on their own, they all have these similarities and total lack of variation / "creativity" in certain aspects. Like they are all set in a space or including aliens, they all include gunplay, etc. There are so many recurring aspects in some of the games on the 360, and imo this total lack of variation between some of the games makes me not even look in the console's direction. Yes, there are certain games on the 360 that appeals/appealed to me, like Mass Effect and Alan Wake (could also mention Left 4 Dead, Dead Rising, Braid, Limbo, Castle Crashers, Rez HD, Ikaruga, Ninja Gaiden 2, Crackdown, Metro 2033, X-COM.. Maybe even SP:C), but most of these are not made by MS themselves and are bound to end up on the PS3 as well, like most of them already have.

This subject is very premature.  We only know of 3 exclusives coming next year to the 360:  Gears of War 3, Codename: Kingdoms and Star Wars Kinect.  And, to be honest, we don't know for sure that the last two ARE coming next year.

What does that mean?  That Microsoft Game Studios hasn't announced what they're up to yet.  Business as usual.

Sony announces almost everything way in advance, so there will be few high profile PS3 surprises released in 2011.

Which is more effective for hype building?  YMMV . . .

Microsoft has games coming out next year, but most of their in-house second party or third party titles are for Kinect. I know more 2012 exclusives on my fingers than I can account for Xbox 360 exclusives for the core in 2011.

Yes, but since 2008, Sony has delivered on the exclusive front. It's more of a concern versus condemning them for a (seemingly) lack of hardcore software. Of course some of this is premature, but the concern isn't outlandish.

You captured my sentiments. Thank you. :)

Isn't the 360 always low on exclusives ever year compared to the PS3?  What's it got this year? AW, CRACK2, MASS EFFECT 2 (timed), SC: C,  Reach, Fable 3... and let's not count Kinect or Move for this comparison.

PS3 on the other hand: God of War 3, MAG, Heavy Rain, Gran Turismo 5, Litte Big Planet 2, MLB The Show 10, ModNation Racers, 3D Dot Game Heroes, Yakuza 3, Last Rebellion, White Knight Chronicles, DC Universe Online, Atelier Rorona: The Alchemist of Arland, EyePet (USA),  ...

Did I miss something? 'cause that's 14 PS3 games  vs. 6 Xbox 360 games (counting a timed exclusive ME2).

Really, nothing surprising to see the 360 getting beat to a pulp exclusive-wise.

You forgot Metro 2033, Tropico, Supreme comander 2, Sniper, Divinity 2, NNN2...and a bunch of other coming up titles that I am too lazy to look up.

Metro 2033 isn't exclusive and NNN2 sucks. Microsoft really needs to beef up their exclusives in the quality department that aren't Gears and Halo. Supreme Commander is on PC and really that games sales will stem from the PC.

The sales of those franchises indicate that plenty of people like buying those games year after year, and tbh, it isn't fair to call Microsoft out for that, when Sony and Nintendo are doing the exact same thing for the forseeable future. I'm not going to go down the Wii and the PS3 future lineups, but you're acting like new IPs way outnumber sequels, when that isn't true at all.

themanwithnoname's law: As an America's sales or NPD thread grows longer, the probabilty of the comment "America = World" [sarcasticly] being made approaches 1.

It is outlandish unless a 360 owner is woefully unsatisfied with the full lineup of game releases for it.  If this is more about "the other console has more", then waaaaaaahhhh.  Your best friend may have a wife that cooks more meals for him than yours, but that doesn't make your wife inferior.

Dude...I am concerned with the hardcore front for the 360 in 2011. You must remember....I am not a fan of kinect, but I wish Microsoft luck on it because it will definitely help their chances to increase installed base.

I've never complained about the 360 exclusive lists. 2011 is going to be the 360's weakest year ever in terms of hot hardcore exclusive titles. 2011 is essentially going to be the year of Kinect if you think about it.
