Forums - Gaming - Is it just me or is the 360 low on exclusives in 2011 vs the PS3?

The better question is why do 360 owners care?  As long as they have the top 2 (Halo, COD) games in the top genre (shooter), everything else becomes second rate or a waste of time.  Really, who's going to stop playing those to play KZ or anything else from the long list of wannabe Halo/COD killers?  The playercount numbers and sales speak for itself.

Actually the PS3's list isn't primarily shooter based like the 360. It is diverse between death match racing, shooting, action adventure and more..

All which most 360 owners don't give a rat's ass about.

Top genre? LOL.  Not even.  True 'Shooter' gamers play PC anyways.

True, but this is between the 360 and PS3.

So your theory is that you as a gamer are ok with just Casual and Shooter games because those sell the best?  I can't see any reason someone would go against variety like that.

Lastly, do you play sales?  Does many many people buying the same game you bought make it more fun or better?  Should I have enjoyed SotC less than I enjoyed GTA IV because it sold worse?

Big marketshare makes money, period.  It's only rational that game devs and companies will prioritize high yield stuff like that first.

And no, I don't play sales, but they do matter for multiplayer games.  Nobody wants to play a game where you can't even fill a server.  Lots of people are needed because multiplayer experiences are emergent vs. something scripted as in a single player game, and integrated communities are what keeps the game replayable.  It also adds a lot of inertia when it comes to trying to sell a game because you have to convince the gamer and his network that it is worth switching over.  It's a double edged sword cause it makes word of mouth much more influencial so game companies have almost no margin of error - if they do not get it just right, it's not going to do well, but if they do they usually see huge returns - see COD, Halo, WoW, Wii.  Social networks matter a lot more this generation than ever before.

I see the traditional single player game becoming a niche genre in the future.  People are naturally social, games are just catching up to this.

Gimped single player tacked onto a multi-player game just to make it a big selling social networking game. Meh. Hardcore gamers who would become alienated and lose interest in gaming. Casual gamers are more into the multi-player/social networking offered by online only games.

Developers may as well stick to low budget casual online games to maximise their sales and profit margins.

this thread is full of damage control...as the end of 2010 doesn't look promising for ps3 in comparison with x360 you are focusing on 2011.

Ok, that's fine but just remember to put into the equation that none of those exclusives is on par with GT5 that will be released in november ...those might be good/great game indeed but surely, even combined, don't have the same hype surrounding GT5 (=if you expect those games to move the market towards PS3 you are going to be disappointed: to the majority of the people that are still waiting to buy their console those titles mean nothing)

Are you serious?  I'm not kidding man are you REALLY SERIOUS?

As far as I, and almost everyone in this thread, can tell...End of 2010 is looking pretty good for the PS3.  GT5, LBP2, and Sly Collection will do just fine to end 2010.  I know for a fact i'll be getting all 3 before the end of the year.  Can you please tell me what makes the end of 2010 for the 360 superior to the PS3.  Halo Reach I'm guessing is your answer?

OT: Yea PS3 has some really nice exclusives coming out next year but i expect MS to retaliate with some of their own.  Even though it won't match the complete domination Sony is putting on, MS can at least try.

Are you seriously telling me Halo and COD are the only games capable of doing that?

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

Gears of War 3 (confirmed)
Codename Kingdoms (TBA)
Forza 4 ( Is forza 4 forza kinect because if so...um...no)
Milo & Kate (no)
Left 4 Dead 3 (That might not even be exclusive by next year and it wasn't even confirmed)
Project Gotham Racing 5 ( I thought Microsoft did away with this game to focus on Forza. I need a link to the confirmation.)
Dawn of Fantasy (never heard of it)
Too Human Trilogy part 2 ( I said hot titles)
Kingdom Under Fire II ( I said hot titles)

This could potentially slay any other lineup in 2011.

Even if your list was 100% confirmed it wouldn't slay the PS3's list next year.

You shut your whore mouth about KUF2! >:x

The last scuttlebutt on PGR was that Turn 10 was taking it over after PGR4, and that it'd follow Forza 3 with the studio "taking turns" on each new installment.  Maybe the Kinect version of Forza's stalled that, but the franchise definitely isn't dead (unlike Blur, lol).

I agree L4D3 probably won't be (console) exclusive.  I do think Mass Effect 3 might be (timed) exclusive though, due to Microsoft's previous contracts for the trilogy.  They probably let EA out of it on certain terms, and ME2's almost exact year of exclusivity probably gives us a good idea of what those terms are.

Missing from the list is Japan's biggest Okatufest planned for next year: The Idolm@ster 2!!

You forgot:

Socom 4

Motorstorm Apocalpse

Ratchet and Clank All 4 One

Final Fantasy XIII Versus

Uncharted 3
