So far, we've heard everything from 2/5 to 9/10.

This is one of those games, huh?

the reveiw from G4 was done by Morgan Web and not only did she give it a 2out of 5, but she was needlessly harsh about it. the look of shock on my face was priceless.

Actually, Abbie Heppe was the one who reviewed the game (It's alright though, since I made the same mistake because my friend told me that Morgan reviewed it. I'm wondering where he got that from...). She went as far as to say that the game is sexist to females because of Samus' role in the game (under the command of Adam).

they sound so much alike. i don't read reveiws i only listen to them lol.

if the game is sexist  because she takes orders from her superiors then women shouldn't be in the military.

i think Abbie is lost in her own little 2 by 4 world.

i was about to go over and check out the xplay review for curiousity but since she said the game is sexist i wont bother

Granted, I haven't played the game myself yet, though I expect to still buy it Tues. despite the amount of negativity surrounding it.  What I have read reaffirms something I've believed for years and unfortunately fullfills my fears.

I think Other:M should be considered a resounding message to enyone who has ever complained that Link or Samus don't talk, that they never should.  I wouldn't mind a little more story or background of the metroid history or of Samus herself...but cutscenes that extend for over 10 minutes and have the potential to make Samus appear to be a whiny, orders following, damaged goods girl could ruin the overall perception of her character for all time.  It detracts from the bold, strong, self sufficient heroine that she has always been, and that's unfortunate.

I guess I will have to see and endure for myself on tues., but I'm sad to think that trying to take such a storied franchise into a fresh direction has also tampered with it and had negative results.

Seems that they're shifting the perceptions people had of Samus, but in a way that's jarring for Westerners. I guess we don't want to see a woman with a troubled past.

That's funny, 'cause we already had info given to us about her troubled past since... uh, I don't know, Metroid 2. It's like that hippy peace sign that Mario used to do and veterans completly loaths it...

And proud member of the Mega Mario Movement!

They already had, the Zelda CD-i trilogy

That... makes very little sense. I haven't played many of the Metroid games, but in Fusion, it really seemed like Samus trusted and respected Adam. She would cooperate with him for a mission, even if he did something she thought was stupid. Furthermore, how is it sexist at all? Is Mario sexist because a female Peach outranks and bosses around the male bros?
