"I wonder why Japan is so against foriegn hardware and software."

I wouldn't say that at all. It's a Xbox thing for some reason.

The best thing about the 360 and PS3 getting better sales to new owners, is looking at some of the good older titles moving back into the top 50 (some in top 30). ODST, Forza 3, GOW3, Uncharted 2, Mass Effect 2, AC2, Fallout, and more all getting small bumps in sales.

I especially like ME2 in there!  about 4 weeks at these sales and it will finally pass 2 million.

It's amazing how dominant 360 has been in the West over the last two months or so.  It really is.

Can't we all just get along and play our games in peace?

Wii is definitely in trouble.

Japan = the last hope of the gaming industry.

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

yes!!!!

......... wii wasn't outsold..........

I wonder how long it will take the 360 to surpass PS3 total sales in Europe. It's going to happen, and at this rate, it will take 8 weeks, but with Halo Reach boosting September sales, and sales starting to climb in September for the Holidays, maybe it will happen sooner. Plus the Arcade 360S still hasn't had a full weeks sales in Eurpe, that may boost sales too.

The last 2 weeks at least Japan has been so backwards from the rest of the world.

Japan = PS3 > Wii > 360

Rest of the world = 360 > Wii > PS3

I wonder why Japan is so against foriegn hardware and software.

They still love the ipod, so they're definitely not against foreign hardware

Windows is also the dominant OS in Japan (unsurprisingly).

The problem with the 360 in Japan is software. The PS3, Wii, DS, and PSP get significantly more software that appeals to Japanese consumers.

If MS really wants to boost sales there, they should probably put together some studios that create exclusive games intended to appeal to Japanese consumers. Or even buy out a studio. They got the resources. It would also please fans of Japanese games around the world.

If anything, this should prove that with the exception of two titles in particular (MGS4 and FFXIII), its not game releases that push new console sales this gen but redesigns and price.  Maybe there have been others, but those stand out to me in particular because the Japanese consumers flocking to those launches.

This gen is continuing to defy expectations, and that makes it so interesting to me (so frustrating for others).  The additions of Move and Kinect later are going to make it even more confounding and I can't wait.  The industry is in flux and constant motion, and that's healthy.

Lastly, to have console owners of three, yes THREE, different consoles all seeing impressive sales and a wide variety of games for their platform with no signs of slowing this late in a gen?  Good time to be a gamer . . .
