Very slow week for HW in Japan, but launches gave nice SW sales to PS3.

Sengoku Basara or what SB3 is about? Not sure the story line of this entry alone but the overall franchise is the Japanese take on Dynasty Warriors. They had a localized version of the PS2 game in NA by the name Devil Kings. There is an anime series too (fun anime btw, over the top yet fun..imagine one of the lead characters riding his horse with 'handles' like in a Harley Davidson while saying the msot random english lines :P)

Imho it's way better than Dynasty Warriors

I know, you are probably right. I'm sure from a business perspective every little bit counts. It just looks so pathetic, that tiny number up on the chart. 

Well yes, in comparison to the Japanese consoles, it looks abysmal. But for an Xbox, it's a 100% improvement.

Actually no. MS used to sell 6 - 7K 360s per week in Japan, now it is selling less than 4K. It will still lead in WW sales since it sells the most in USA, but it needs to sell 10K per week to be successful in Japan.

I didn't say it was a success, I said it is an improvement.

Also, who determines 10k as a success, out of curiosity?


Compared to it's relative heyday back in 2008 and early 2009 it's recent Japan numbers aren't looking too impressive. It was selling in the vicinity of 10k on a relatively consistent basis back then and close to 30k on big game releases. Now a Monster Hunter game and a console redesign in the same week can't get it over 20k.

I wonder why it is that the Japanese don't buy Xbox 360. The rest of the world does. Western gamers love Japanese style games so why don't the Japanese enjoy western style games? It's like they refuse to acknowledge anything outside of their island nation, no matter how fun it is.
