Regardless of what others say, this is directly related to the idiotic right-wing initiated Mosque in NYC conflict. This raises tensions of people who inevitiable beleive the bullshit spouted about that Mosque and then do actions that range from mild (this) to major (cabbie attack) or even worse. How soon until there is a Mosque burned or bombed during Friday prayers?

The Kid who stabbed the cabby worked for a Liberal religious group

This right wing media shit, can't you come up with an original thought

Me Chunk, right wing bad, left wing good

rinse repeat

You really want to argue that Fox news and other right-wing tv shows and radio shows don't routinely incite anti-Muslim propoganda with cherry-picked quranic verses and repeatidly called this mosque a place for terrorist, a shrine to the terrorists on 9/11 etc?

Do I need to find the youtube videos of Fox news anchors and others from when this controversy started, seriously?

Sorry, but its not bs, its simply fact that this controversy became major news initially on right-wing outlets.

The guy in the cab as well as this far lesser incident are all results of higher tensions related to this wider controversy. I think his job exemplafies this far more than anything, but this is being continously described as an Islam vs America issue so he acted out on probably pent up anger and hatred he already had for Muslims.

This guy in the OP just needs a night to cool off and some education on Islamic beliefs as most of America does so we don't keep moving further into a larger internal conflict where a Muslim is akin to a witch of the dark ages.

I dont care about fox news

but you are so nuanced until its a conservative and then you paint with the biggest paint brush you can find. Thats like saying all Muslims are terrorists, it sounds like it goes against everything you believe in

ok, point made. It is a bad generalization. I'll refer to specifics in the future such as Fox and other specific anchors who's name is escaping me for some reason....

If the same thing was done in by a muslim in a church, the media would call the all muslims 'terrorists' or something like that. As it is done against muslims, it is an individual act.

When Osama allegedly attacked the twin tower, the whole muslim world were blamed and people said that Islam is a wicked religion. Why that is not considered as single act?

Yeesh, pretend I never mentioned Pearl Harbour. I just thought it was funny that you had to construct another awkwardly contrived analogy.

You asked me a question, and I answered it. Wherever this hypothetical bombed clinic is in my town, there's a 50% chance it's within sight of a christian church, and a good chance that church is evangelical. I sincerely doubt that many people would care if another one went up, because they wouldn't think of that bomber as a christian terrorist, they'd just think of him as that crazy asshole who blew up a clinic.

And I'm seriously okay with that. I don't think evangelicals should have to second guess their actions because one crazy jerk took things too far. Nor do I think that muslims in New York should have to relocate a major project (I'm guessing land is hard to come by in that area) because a group of crazy assholes did something stupid ten years ago in the name of Allah.

You asked, I answered. If my answer isn't good enough for you, do try to keep in mind that I think this is a stupid non-issue.

You did by posting the link.

Which i'd never heard of because there isn't a "herd" I followed.  Which is just an insulting comment.

I at first thought it was a non issue until I thought for a couple minues and realized just how insensitive it was.  If it was me I'd of never built something there.

All I had to do was imagine it from a different perspective.   IE come up with the same situation but where the Republicans would be for the building, and the Democrats against... and the Church was the first that came to mind.

Better one group have to merely second think something and move, then cause another group harm.

I gurantee if somone were two want to build a shinto temple 2 blocks away from Pearl Harbour... 9 years after it... people would of been pissed about it... and have good reason.  It's just insesnitive unneeded and causes people unneeded stress.

Democrats vs. Republicans... whatever. The principle is simple in either case. You can't hold a group responsible for the actions of an individual (excepting when that individual is an official representative for the group, then they'd better do something about it).

The people trying to build this centre aren't the people who bombed the WTC, and as insensitive as their actions might be, I see no reason why their rights to develop the property should be revoked due to the actions of others who happen to read the same holy book.

I'd say the argument against a Shinto shrine at Pearl Harbor is stronger, since Shinto was the state religion and the emperor of Japan was a Shinto god. But I still say that the smart thing to is to move on. The real source of unneeded stress is the inability to let go of the past.

I've yet to really see people say their right to build there SHOULD be revoked.   It shouldn't be...

They should see the protestors and have the common sense and decency to move rather then aggravate peoples PTSD for no real reason.

If someone says that the government should stop this... then they're wrong.

Should the government openly condemn it's placement like Obama basically did?  Yes.

As for "letting go of the past".  Once again... PTSD kinda makes that hard to do.

I mean sure, veterans of vietnam would be fine if they could just let go vietnam... that's not to say it'd be right to place a bunch of things that would remind them fo it right near their VA clubs.

Its too bad all the great things done in the name of any religion go unnoticed. And Im saying this as someone who despises the self righteous idea of a blind faith that rewards "believers" when I've been told if i dont accept their "god" i go teo hell rather than be judged based on how i treated my fellow man....Still, great things are done in the name of religion but no one cares. ISlam, Christianty, Buddhism it doesnt matter

The crazies are more interesting, thats why everyone loves reality TV in this country (by everyone i mean ratings)

Socially this country is fucked beyond belief. And this is where it shows.

Welcome to the media age.

This actually isn't surprising given the recent delvopements with the mosque. The Imam of the Mosque is an idiot if he thinks building it in the location, and opening it on the anniversary of the biggest attack on Amerca since Pearl Harbor, which was made by a group of Muslim radicals, is a good idea. That or he is deliberately trying to stir up trouble, which isn't surprising because of his background, and the fact that radical Muslims are instructed to become social Martyrs to gain the support of societies they intend to change. Funny thing is, it's working with all the idiots out there. Both the people who pull this kind of shit, and those feeling sorry for the Muslims, who really don't want assimilate, but rather change our society. (disclaimer, before anybody jumps on me, let me be clear, I do NOT believe all Muslims are out to change our society, or are as radical as this Imam)

Sorry to nitpick. Who do you think attacked the towers or was your use of "allegedly" just in the legal context?
