I wonder why...xbox is never going to take off in Japan.

the point is not letting the ps3 take off in japan

But the PS3 normally outsells the 360 by a ratio of 10 times as much...not sure there's to that.  Apple is really the only western company to have made a dent in the Japanese marketplace, and I understand that M$ needs to try to get out and build some grassroot support in Japan, but not at the expense of it's larger customer base.  M$ has a TON of first party IPs that are collecting dust, but look at all the JRPGs they tried, not to mention that horrible Ninja Blade, which I couldn't play for more than a few minutes.

They can't really do anything about it, they tried their best and thats it you can't force ppl you know........

Yeah i remember that video, some of those devs arent even making games for the 360 currently. Its obvious MS cant go toe-to-toe with Sony there, the only way they can do better is by doing something different, and i was hoping that was Natal.

I don't want to be the downer, but Microsoft speakers are terribly not interesting. Almost as bad as Nintendo's, and to me those choices are just terrible. Having Sony is smart because they actually have a couple good reps to do so. But since they did it last year (I believe), they should have went to a new area of the gaming industry. I just don't see it being that exciting, because of the speaker.

The thing is if you think about it MS would not be key-noting if they didn't have something to announce. 360 is doing well in every region. It has had some success in Japan. But in comparison to it's competitors there it is doing pretty bad. It makes sense for MS to now try and concentrate a little on Japan sales. Even if they can get sales to go up by like 20% that is a big difference. You have to expect some Japanese style Kinect games getting shown. If they managed to get a big franchise to make a Kinect game it will raise Kinects profile there. Obviously not going to happen but if they made say a Monster Hunter, Pokemon or maybe even a FF7 Kinect game it would push sales bigtime.

If you look at the TGS2008 Key Note they had some pretty good reveals and info i.e ODST, Halo Wars, Last Remnant, Star Ocean 4, Resident Evil 5, Teken 6 etc..

So would not surprise me to see something bigish announced, i just don't think they would bother key noting if they didn't have anything to reveal seeing as that is what people expect from the event.

Would be very interesting to hear what they have to say regarding Kinect and their strategy... I'm also interested in how they are going to keep the hardcore gamer from feeling undervalued.

Everything you ever wanted to know about Kinect is right HERE

The best announcement they could make is that they purchased a few good Japanese devs. That's what they need right now. At least they could announce some new games for the IPs they have.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

The Japanese do not care about that and Microsoft knows this. Keynote speeches from the big three at TGS are usually to show the offerings which will interest the Japanese crowd the most. Expect to hear about Versus from SE at Sony's conference.
