Eternal Darkness is far from scary, its very cartoony and i don't know how everyone piss their pants just mentioning the name.

or is it because its a nintendo game?

Eternal Darkness was more thriller than horror.

Didn't make it any less "scary". WAKE is more thriller than horror, but has some of the best scares in a game to date.

it wasn't scary =s i don't find colorful games to be scary at all.

Anyone that has played Resident Evil games in succession should find Resident Evil 1 by far the scariest. Resident Evil 3 was scarier than part 2 tho...

Otherwise a pretty generic list.

Condemned was scary, Silent hill for sure, Metro2033??? Don't know about that...

WAKE was more a dark thriller than a colorful game.

i'm talking about Eternal Darkness, the only thing that game does is the old Metal Gear Solid tricks of breaking the fourth wall and confusing you, and that isn't really scary.

Eternal Darkness...End of list

Just waiting for that PS Vita to come out so I can play some full featured games on the go with that beautiful screen and control scheme...

Exactly, while the memory card deleting data, a hint of a sequal with box art and flase graphical glitches are cool they are not 'jump' shocking.

I think some of you are taking "scare" out of context. Something doesn't have to be jump "shocking" to be scary. Siren: Blood Curse is a testament to that.

Siren is a horror game ED isn't, ED is a lot like Tomb Raider to me.

Nothing scares me,I don't have a soul. lol

Conker's Bad Fur Day!

Seriously! That game scared the bananas out of me back in the day. The "Spooky" chapter was especially frightening... with those squirrell zombies going after you, always seeming to come out of nowhere... *shivers*

Plus, the evil Tediz also had the knack for popping out at the most tense of times... O_O

lol @ Metro 2033 and Doom 3.

Why no Eternal Darkness love?

Not only does that game do a good job of scaring you, it always screws with you the entire game.  I actually have two great memories from that game:

1) This was the first game I played with surround sound.  I remember walking around the mansion while playing this game in the dead dark with my roommate.  All of sudden we start hearing foot steps and creaking and we were just scared to death.  That game did such an awesome job with atmosphere that we even started seeing things and jumping at shadows.  Also, I'm a giant pussy when it comes to scary games...

2) One of the sanity meter tricks got me good.  I walked into a room with like six enemies surrounding me and then all of a sudden it said my controller had become unplugged while the enemies started mauling me.  I literally jumped out of my chair and dove straight for my Gamecube trying to get the controller plugged back in.  Finally the screen flashed and I realized the game had just been screwing with me.

God I love that game.

Those foot steps always scared the shit out of me. I always just told myself it's just the game fucking with me. And it still scared me.
