I also think Heavenly Sword beats out that 60 AI on screen point in the article.

I just don't like how it makes it seem like Halo Reach is greater than other Hack and Slash titles or Kart Racers, etc...

Halo Reach has a ton of content and will be nothing short of amazing, but those same genres it is trying to make it appear better than can do things that Reach can't even touch, like assassinations while hanging from ledges. Ability to attack the first place guy in a racer when you're in dead last. Ability to use the editing software to create sidescrolling shooters, sidescrolling platformers, racers, etc... with that only being LBP1, Forge can't touch LBP2. Ability to go questing like in an RPG or have control over the storyline.

It instead cherry picked certain aspects and declared Reach as "putting them to shame", which is my gripe with the article.

Could have been just as great of an article if it just went to great lengths to display what it offered compared to other FPS titles.

I see and agree about them overcomparing it to other games, as you pointed out other games do better at certain things because that's the actual genre they belong to and not a FPS.

However the Heavenly Sword one is completely moot.  It has horrendous AI just like every hack and slash.  Stupid enemies that are just slashing fodder for your sword and stand around waiting to be hit.  Reach has fully calculating independent AI with no set scripted paths and the abilities to take cover and launch endless different strategies such as baiting and flanking maneuvers.  In fact its so advance at such a large scale that if 5 or more Jackels are in combat together they will band together and form a phalanx with their shields to cover other to fire over them.  That's some damn impressive AI and Bungie is well know for their AI capabilities.

With 60 AI on the screen this will serious limit the AI in any game. Total War series has hundreds of men yet there are more simplified by working in groups.

they are overdoing everything. the content looks good. and the bluray one is just ridiculous.

But true LOL.

Reach wins on every point in the OP. Not on one single point can anyone say with a straight face that Reach isnt the leader and innovator.

And I still want to know why BluRay games are not keeping up with DVD games for content. Noone seems to be able to answer this question.

It wasnt answered with Halo3. And well Reach beats out alot of retail games in their own fields. And yet is one game. A game with so many features and so much content that to be honest, it makes other single genre games look bland.

Wow, so you actually think that Halo Reach is the leader and innovator in racing, rpg-like character customization, and level designing?

Here, I'll say it with a straight face.  "No, it is not -.-"

I think the racing part will become huge. Double team racing online. On 1000's of tracks created in Forge. Imagine one guy drives while the guy on the back uses weapons to take out other racers. Again with huge amounts of game modes withing just the racing part. It has so much potential for huge laughs online.

And the customization and level designing obviously refers to console. Not PC. Character customisation, game types customisation and the level design customisation in 3d is just rediculous. I dont know any other Console game with this many customisation options. None.

Gametypes customization is beaten by LBP2 unless you specify that it's the best gametype customization in 3D which is not what the list or you implied, character customization I'd have to look up, but I imagine your average wRPG will beat it, and assuming that just having a ton of user created tracks makes you the leader in the racing genre Modnation Racers has already been there and done that.

edit: Naz has told me the character customization and it is beaten by MNR as well as most wRPGs.

...

Wait Halo Reach fit onto 1 disc?!?!?? 0_o

How the hell did they manage that?

Why does it fit more content than BR?

Well, I can think of a couple reasons.

1. repetitve use of art assets. In that ForgeWorld thing, all the areas had the exact same art assets. Doesn't take a genious to figure that out. It also doesn't mean that it's a bad thing. It's just a reason.

2. Lower quality sound. BR often uses HD sound. I'm wondering what the bitrate is on the reach audio.

Anyway, it looks fun, and the map editor is pretty strong, but honestly these comparisons were just ridiculous. Pardon me if I don't post in here again. It's obvious that this is a clever marketing scheme to troll teh gaming community.

Nope Halo Reach's AI are better then Halo 3, and Halo 3's were top notch AI.

Well I wait and see as there is always a cost in both CPU and GPU with that many AI on the screen at once.  I have a feeling there is some kind of "grouped AI" involved like found in many PC games.

With Xbox 360 disc with around 9gb of space...How did Halo Reach fit that amount of content within a single disc...and having more content then Blu-Ray games to this date?</span></div> </td> </tr> </tbody></table> <p><br>That doesn't make a blue-ray anyless neccessary like the article is hinting towards. The reason the developer haven't strived for "this level of content" is because they see no reason to. This is a staple fact: "Quantity doesn't equal Quality".</p> <p>Remember blue-ray isn't just for games, if 1080p movies can be packed into 9gb why would the industry adopt Blue-ray and not HD-DVD?</p> <p>There are a lot of game which breaks the barrier 9 or even come close to 10 with 1/3 of the content Halo reach has.</p> <p>This <strong>doesn't make</strong> Halo Reach <strong>"The greatest game ever made"</strong> or even put other games to shame. Perhaps at this moment Halo Reach <strong>"might"</strong> push the standard for <strong>"FPS"</strong> games, but how long till the others developers catch up? Can you dispute that the other franchises with this amount of content isn't in development at this point of time?</p> <p>I'm sure Halo Reach is a great great great game but the only people who will take this article with more than a pinch of salt will be the <strong>Halo FANS</strong>. The rest, not very much so.</p> <p><img id="smallDivTip" style="z-index: 90; border: 0px solid blue; position: absolute; left: 63px; top: 333px;" src="chrome://dictionarytip/skin/dtipIconHover.png" alt=""></p></td></tr></table><br /><br />

Cool story, bro. Just kidding.

Edit: Come on...are people really taking this seriously? It's obviously purposely exaggerated. It's just the writer's way of showing the amount of content available in Halo: Reach.

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

This article just demonstrates the cockiness of the over enthused  Halo crowd, basically that it is supreme and nothing can touch it, bullshit. Its certainly not every halo gamer but this article sounds like it comes from a guy who only plays Halo. Still day one buy!

And yet its 1/10th the BS that the Killzone 2 crowd brought here for how many months?  People are excited for this game and there is nothing wrong with it, the guy was having a little fun.

Who made you sour pusses the FUN POLICE?  lol....

Why don't you same lot complain about all the negativeness and half truths about Kinect and the games coming out for it?  Oh, I forgot its not on the PS3 nevermind....

*sigh*

People overhyped the shit out of KZ2, and Halo Reach is being overhyped too.

They're pretty comparable in the overhype actually.

And don't you go calling other people biased when you're trying to pass off the idea that Halo Reach is not being overhyped that much.

Actually I was around for KZ2 days, that was a whole new level of overhypeness. Not saying Halo isn't overhyped, just saying the people here took KZ2 to a whole new level.

The difference is that Reach will actually live up to the hype, and outsell KZ2's lifetime sales in a single week.

Does Space Warfare better than Black Ops?

No shit, lol. Black Ops isn't Space Warfare.

Flight warfare, not space warfare, and while Black Ops has chopper gameplay, Reach has that, plus space battles. :P

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

I'm pretty hyped for this. I wonder what the review scores will be? I can't believe it has a fully implimented racing system, lol.
