People bought bioshock for multiplayer? pfahahahahahahaha.

Thanks for commenting to one specific detail in my post. Maybe I should have worded it differently for you but one of the complaints about Red Steel 2, which has already be mentioned in the thread is that it lacked a multiplayer. I do not know why people bought Bioshock? I know I would not h ave. That's me and my decision.

Bioshock has an outstanding campaign for the FPS genre, that's why it sold and that's also why other FPS without multiplayer modes sold in the past. So what Red Steel 2 needed in order to sell was to be outstanding. Did it meet this requirement?

To quote FlyingLotus: "pfahahahahahahaha."

Goldeneye, Call of Duty, and Doom are three outstanding single player FPS that come to mind. Having great multiplayer is also a bonus.

BTW, this isn't just a case of diminishing returns, and that's not a Wii only thing, that some posts here implied. Look at Crackdown 2, Resistance 2, and all the music games. Also, some Wii sequels have also sold well, like the CoD games and Mario Galaxy 2.

I liked the graphic style but the execution was sloppy as every place looked the same. Also, going back to the hub to get new missions was tiresome. Although the motion plus sword controls were excellent, I had more fun playing the original Red Steel, even considering its B-movie story, weak acting, and poor sword handling.

A point of clarification, Wii Sports Resort is owned by almost 23 percent of Wii owners (22.98%) --- so that should be a baseline minimum for Wii Motion Plus.

As for Red Steel 2, the first one left such an "over promise, under deliver" taste in gamers' mouths that it may explain why a lot of people did not go for it.

I just got a copy, so I will have to reserve more critical judgement on the game until a later date.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

Part of the problem is that they pulled support for the game as it near completion and then went ahead and excluded multiplayer.

The commercials didn't really help either....

We already know that there is a market for "core" (or whatever you wanna call it) games on the Wii. Call Of Duty Modern Warfare: Reflex and Monster Hunter Tri are "core" games that came out recently that did sell well. It might not be as big as the market for the PS3/360, but it IS there.

Plus putting more such games makes the market bigger. The HD systems are flooded with major games. That's not a coincidence. The developers deliberately chose to make most of the games for those systems. The gamers didn't just magically flock there because of the specs of the systems.

That director has some pretty lame excuses. He's saying they were limited by the number of motion plus devices on the market... but wasn't it bundled with their game?

I've played Red Steel 2 and I have to say it's very much an overrated game. Don't get me wrong, the motion controls are great. But everything else is very boring. I remember being bombarded with corny story cutscenes and long, obvious tutorials (who knew you would need a tutorial to learn how to "swing"; weren't motion controls suppose to eliminate the need for this?)

Also... No multiplayer. No local multiplayer. Little re-playability in the single player campaign. Short single-player campaign. Overall, it's just a lame value.

I wouldn't say it's bad, but I really don't like the "but it got good reveiws" excuse (something mentioned early in the article), so yeah, the excuses are lame.

I think one of the reasons of the performance of Red Steel 2 is the first part. People who didn't like the first part stayed away from the second. And people who liked the first part got a second part, who had nothing in common with the first part. The settings and characters are different. The art style is different. The first part was an FPS with a few sword sequenses. The second is something unique. The only thing they have in common is the name.

or maybe the game was just boring in story telling and replay value? i know i got bored quick from it.. the gameplay was fantastic no denying that, i wish the game had a strong story with twists and stuff .. if a red steel 3 comes out "which wont happen considering how hard the 2nd game bombed" i want a cinematic story and strong replay value by adding Multiplayer..
