Forums - Sony - Can sony cancel the usb feature?

What I mean is no longer allow the ps3 to connect with anything that is not a psp or contoller? The ps3 can already tell what is and isn't a psp/ds3 so sony can do tis easily to combat this jailbreak right?

Example- I connect my cell phone to my ps3 (I do this when I want to pull a picture to my ps3) and instead of it saying Mass storage device (that is what it says when my phone is connected) has been connected it does nothing and I cannot access the picture from my phone.

Simple fix?

Technically yes

Legally no

They can make something like this available and leave it up to users to do it themselves -

They already removed enough stuff, why do you want them to do more?

well if the did there would be no way to charge ur controllers

No.

Some random Australian peripheral which may or may not work and is a massive headache to use is no danger to Sony, and USB is actually an essential feature, unlike OtherOS.

Basically what he is suggesting is finding a way to disable everything BUT controllers, PSP's and bluetooths I'm assuming.

oh i see, i didnt read the OP properly.. sorry

I think stopping this problem may be a bit more tricky then the linux hack.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

Well has the ps3 been jailbroke because as far as I know it's still a rumor.

well coundn't sony disable programs to boot from the usb drive? if its even possible

They could, but they won't because it gets in the way of many legitimate features.
