oh yeah i forgot about those. SO forza 5, fable 4, and halo 4? Is that enough?

Why do you assume they won't come out with more core IPs this or next gen?

Sony for example didn't have the Uncharted, Resistence, and Motorstorm IPs until this gen.

In time we'll see new core games from MS.

1 major selling franchise?

Last time I checked Fable is a major selling franchise in fact its outsold Uncharted 2, God of War 3, Infamous, Killzone 2, Heavy Rain, and others.

I think you ought to be careful calling others out for spin CGI.

I think you should pay attention to what I was saying. Halo outsells those franchises on it's own, but it's the only one. Fable II has been on the market longer than Uncharted 2, but the numbers are comparable, as are the numbers from LBP, Resistance and others vs PGR, Left 4 Dead (though not MSs) and Mass Effect (again, not MSs).

I consider major anything that sells over 5 million (which is Gears for Microsoft and [in a sense] Metal Gear Solid for Sony]. However, in owned IPs over 5 million, Micorosft (and essentially Sony as well) only has one: Halo. I also stated that Halo isn't the reason Sony's in last place, and neither is Fable for that matter.

I'd suggest learning the definition of "spin" before using it out of context.

Your being awfully negative here man and I just shot down what you had to say about 1 major selling franchise.  Ok if Fable isn't than what do you consider all those games that I just listed which are considered flagship AAA Sony Franchises?  They are games that many here consider "megaton" and they are, the fact is Fable is a huge franchise no way around it.

You mention in other threads how Killzone, LBP, and these games are "huge exclusives" but then when I point out that they have been outsold by Fable suddenly the only major Sony exclusive is Metal Gears Solid? Your contradicting yourself.

Also I know you always like to defend exclusive stuff to the death but the fact is your wrong on here, exclusive don't mean remotely anything like they used to.  The two most important things right now are Price and 3rd party support.

I'm being extremely negative? Hmmm.....Yet, you completely overlook one of the most one-sided, negative posters on the site? Yeah, double standards are ever present.

Regardless, first, read the edit in my last post.

Second, show me, from other threads, where I said Killzone or LBP are major sellers in the PS3's arsenal. Yes, I've said they are important to the PS3 as a whole, but never said they were major sellers. In fact, I'm positive I've never said that.

Last, the "exclusives" conversation is subjective, so you may call me wrong, doesn't mean I am from a factual standpoint. IMO, each console's exclusives are what will continue to shape what they are. 3rd party support and price are definitely important,, didn't say that they weren't, but they aren't the main attraction in buying a console.

ok I see your points here and they aren't bad ones at all.  I know you never said Killzone and LBP are major sellers I more took it as you were trying to insinuate that Fable was a small franchises and trying to somewhat downplay it as a key franchise for MS.  My mistake and I apologize.

Also I wasn't trying to say YOU were spinning anything I didn't think you were necessarily.  However I didn't see him trying to spin anything either so I was simply calling you out on that.  His post didn't seem all that bad to me at all. But maybe I should re-read it.

IF gears creators jump on the multi plat bandwagon..yes

they really need some new solid first party devs.....as of now imho I think they are putting most of their eggs in the one basket that is Kinect..

But who knows they have done good so far this gen..fingers crossed for next one

well jumping from xbox to xbox 360 microsoft really only had 1 new game which was gears. Also mass effect if you call it an exclusive. I think Microsoft will continue to use their established franchises.

They kind of lost me, I learned I should stick with PC/Nintendo(both)/Sony(Console).

The only reason I jumped in, is because of their attempt to get Japanese support, when they stopped, I started disliking the console.

If MS doesn't have something significant this TGS in the Japanese market (as in the jRPG market), then I will say they have silently pulled away from the market.  Gears is a game I could care less about.  The only thing I like about Halo is playing Co-op campaign mode.  Living in America, it isn't a problem to find people that buy Halo.  I'll probably be living in Japan when the next gen Xbox comes around.

I'm not saying I'm never going to get an Xbox again.  But if MS is done with the Japanese market and they don't have more first parties to release some new Western experiences that aren't going to PC - then well...  I'll be sticking with Nintendo / Apple iPhone (yes, I said it) / Sony / and MS Windows.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

MS is going to do just fine with their current direction; plus let's face it, the "hardcore" are only around for so long and have a tendency to shrink over years.

Agreed. As much as I love the Halo series, my bet is after Reach the series will enter terminal decline. I dont think Gears of War has much longer to go either, but that depends on how Epic follow up Gears 3

Not even close the Halo Universe has tons to offer... we can move over and do stuff with the Elites perhaps even go back in their past and learn their history

Every universe got loads to offer. That doesn't mean a series will keep on selling as well as it does now, nor does it mean that the remaining part of the universe is any exciting to consumers. Maybe to you it is, but you're only you.

Yes a Halo set on the Elite planet. Crazy jungle and swamp environments would be awesome.

The X360 is the standard console in this generation. The majority of hardcore console gamers play on Xbox.

We will end this generation and start the next when nearly 70 million X360s have been shipped worldwide. Until then we only need to acquire a couple of good game studios to complete the exclusive lineup.

Xbox 3 is going to be huge.

Seriously...lol. Slime you need to not use sweeping generalisations or be careful in how you word things. Xbox isnt the standard console in this generation. Standard would means something like the one thats sold the most on average (at the very least).

I wouldnt say that the majority of hardcore gamers play on the Xbox 360 either. I play on the PS3, i am hardcore, but there are many more. Also can you ignore Wii, you may not call it hardcore, but there are people who would consider themselves hardcore gamers who love nintendo games (I certainly dont like Nintendo games, but i fully understand that situation). So really silly generalisations.

As for the OP, I personally think MS need more 1st Party Studios or MS backed games companies, they seem risk/cash adverse right now (perhaps because of Kinect and thats where they are pushing right now), they definately need to approve another Alan Wake, those guys may have not sold lots in the first version, but they have got the tech and could easily create another game at a very much reduced price, whereas getting a studio to start from scratch would be just as costly. I just dont think 3 major franchies are enough, though there is alot of love for Halo, which counts for alot in the USA market, but they dont want to do a Modern Warfare and drain its IP. I think 2-3 games per generation max (along the same lines) is probably best (always depends on how long this gen goes on for).
