And other people gonna eat some DK returns crow

You do realize Donkey Kong Country has never really been a HUGE seller right?  I mean the first one sold around 8 mil, which is definitely huge for the install base it was released on, but every entry since then has dropped in sales by quite a bit.  The 2nd one sold  4.37 mil (nothing to sneeze at, but still about half that of the first installment).  The final release on SNES didn't reach 3 mil (2.87 mil).

Now, given it's new larger install base, and if the game is actually good, I can definitely see it going on to sell as much as the original, maybe a little more.  But, don't expect to see Mario numbers from Donkey Kong.  Or even Kirby for that matter.

Donkey kong probably not in japan, but kirby is still fairly popular there.

Also wow at Wii Party, can't wait till it releases in the states

HW :

PSP -35,734
PS3 - 33,057
DSi LL - 27,923
Wii - 25,072
DSi - 24,850
Xbox 360 - 5,065
DS Lite - 4,809
PS2 - 1,675
PSP go -608

Good Obon result for PS3, I was expecting it to be slose to Wii and stay flat from the previous week. Wii got a very nice lift out of Obon. I'm very surprised 360 was flat / went down, though I'm thinking of VGC numbers for the previous week not the MC nummbers.

Wii/PS3 difference for SB3 is incredible. I could imagine PS3 and Wii having equal sales of multiplats based on a game having more appeal to PS3 owners than Wii owners. But not such a HUGE margin in favour of PS3. Does this suggest a lot of cross console ownership between PS3 and Wii, obviously with those dual console owners almost universally going for PS3 version?

Donkey Kong Country Returns could be extremely big, much more than Kirby's Epic YAM so we shouldn't understimate it. Donkey Kong Country was so monster that it managed to sell 3 million units in Japan while the best selling Kirby title didn't reach the 2 million mark. Nowadays Kirby games even on DS hardly sell more than 1 million units.

GB - Kirby's Dream Land ----- 1,700,000

GB - Kirby's Dream Land 2 ----- 1,480,000

DS - Kirby Super Star Ultra Deluxe ----- 1,174,849

DS - Kirby Squeak Squad ----- 1,116,424

N64 - Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards ----- 882,830

GBA - Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land ----- 832,901

SFC - Donkey Kong Country -----3,000,000

SFC - Donkey Kong Country 2 ----- 2,221,000

SFC - Donkey Kong Country 3 ----- 1,770,000

well the weird thing is the ps3 has 1 game in the top 20, while wii has 6.  I'd like to see a top 50.

yea, the dual console owners are going for the PS3 version clearly, you can see that the wii version went down quite a bit less this week by percentage.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

Let's not forget the NSMB Wii is the best selling Mario game on a console in japan since the original SMB. Donkey Kong may be able to do 2 mil if the marketing is right. Kirby looks like it will also break a million, how much after that i dont know. Certainly those games will be fairly big, and two 1mil sellers for the holidays is nothing to sniff at surely, especially when these series have been missing for quite a while.

In comparison Donkey Konga on the GC(which wasnt really a main in the series) did half a million, and DK64 did more than a million, both on consoles far less popular, both have deviated from the originals. I think DK: returns will be quite big in japan, because it looks like the biggest DK since DK3.

For kirby, Kirby 64 did around 600k, while kirby air ride on the GC did 450k. Both numbers strong, but i think stronger effort has been put on this one. Also the DS iterations have done quite well to revive the series, so i would think 1 mil isnt out the question.

list = meh. But good to se Tales in the top chart.

Narikiri Dungeon X actually did kinda badly for a full on Tales Studio remake.  I think they'd have been better off porting Hearts to PSP, it'd have probably cost less and sold much more (like Vesperia PS3 did and Graces PS3 probably will).

Preview said 6k-9k for 360. It sold 5,065.

Preview said 22k-30k for Wii. It sold 25,072.

Preview said 22k-28k for PS3. It sold 33,057.

Preview said 1.8k-2.4k for PS2. It sold 1,675.

Preview said 33k-40k for PSP. It sold 36,342.

Preview said 50k-56k for DS. It sold 57,582.

And people laugh at me, when im saying that PS3 is undertracked in "others".
