Why isn't Sony or MS willing to risk a multi million dollar marketing budget on an arcade game excluding FPS?

It's why they're losing the console war btw.

Wait, what's an arcade game?

Pac Man, Donkey Kong Jr., Galaga, Dig Dug,TONS of Shooters, TONS of fighters, Derby Owners Club, Ski Ball, Baseball/Football Toss, Basketball, Metal Slug, R-Type, Super Stardust HD, Side Scrolling Brawlers, etc...

Things you find on PSN or XBLA.

Pyro as Bill, you brought over nomenclature from an unrelated series of discussions and tried to shoehorn it into the vernacular of an entirely different audience. That is not going to help facilitate communications.

EVERYONE, THIS IS WHAT HE MEANS:

"Where are the pick-up-and-play games with a focus on accessibility and challenge? I am excluding FPS games, fighting games, and downloadable games from this question."

Wait... this wasn't a game where we try to solve Pyro as Bill's riddles?

I see....

It's a disingenuous question in a lot of ways. The arcades have been dying for years in the US for a reason.

More, action games carry on arcade values. You want arcade games? Look no further than Earth Defense Force 2017. Look no further than Bayonetta. Look no further than Ninja Gaiden.

It's there. You just have to be willing to look for it.

Seriously :P lol, now your just overdoing it.

Is Buzz! an arcade game? Because that's one I can play on my PS3 and it's not a FPS, a fighting game or a downloadable game.

I've played the Wii version of EDF and it's arcadey, it's not an arcade game though. It still requires levelling up and building characters (kind of assuming).

I know they are there. But why are they downloadables and not the holiday blockbuster outside of shooters?

PS3/360 has the shooter without a doubt, possibly killing it because that's all it seems to have. Could a 2d platformer not sell 20M on PS3/360?

Yes, so is just about every retail racer on PS3 that is not Gran Turismo. MNR counts just like MKWii. Cabella hunting titles too. Every fighter. Every FPS, especially Time Crisis.

It doesn't help his argument when he removes what is arguably the biggest portion left in Arcade gaming considering that is what I see most of at my local Dave and Busters, outside of Derby Owners Club, the moving Basketball hoops, crane games, ski ball, Mo Cap Boxing, etc...

This is almost like me asking which console is best for old school gaming and then saying the Virtual Console titles don't count.

there are tons of racing games where you can either only drive one race or several races for hours.

Same is true for sports, sandbox and rhythm games.

Also please name me a platformer besides Mario that sold over 3m on the Wii....

If Nintendo made a real Mario game on PS3 and 360 no doubt it would sell tons as well.

i guess you really don't know anything about anything other than the Wii and just despise them before "HD consoles is for shooters!"

there are more arcade games on the HD consoles than on Wii.

In a sense that's exactly what I'm saying.

Virtual Console does't count. I played the 80s and 90s versions in the 80s and 90s. Where are my 2000s and 2010s versions?
