Forums - Gaming - Is FPS all that's left from the Arcade on PS3/360?

They are on the iPhone... even Street Fighter 4 is there...

Why isn't Sony or MS willing to risk a multi million dollar marketing budget on an arcade game excluding FPS?

It's why they're losing the console war btw.

Don't Play Stationary 4 ever. Switch!

Any older gamers around who remember what an arcade game is?

Yes and I don't remember FPS being one. Almost all the genres are still accounted for I'm just not sure what your are trying to say here, or actually I am but I don't understand how you came to your conclusion.

What other Arcade titles? Whack a Mole? Deal or No Deal? Ski Ball?

Negating Shooters, Fighters, the entire downloadable section as well as excluding LittleBigPlanet and ModNation Racers just because it doesn't sell like Mario titles doesn't make for a good base for your argument.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

Pyro as Bill, you brought over nomenclature from an unrelated series of discussions and tried to shoehorn it into the vernacular of an entirely different audience. That is not going to help facilitate communications.

EVERYONE, THIS IS WHAT HE MEANS:

"Where are the pick-up-and-play games with a focus on accessibility and challenge? I am excluding FPS games, fighting games, and downloadable games from this question."

It's a disingenuous question in a lot of ways. The arcades have been dying for years in the US for a reason.

More, action games carry on arcade values. You want arcade games? Look no further than Earth Defense Force 2017. Look no further than Bayonetta. Look no further than Ninja Gaiden.

It's there. You just have to be willing to look for it.

When gaming was mainstream we could split it into two distinct groups.

Arcade games and computer games. With consoles it goes:

Arcade-----------------Console--------------Computer.

The only games that are 10M on 360/PS3 are arcade games ie shooters. Wii's 10M are all arcade games.

Why doesn't Sony or MS risk 100M of advertising on an arcade game?

What is your definition of an arcade game?

Give me 5 examples of "Arcade games" on the Wii.
