DQIX is at 4.6 million vs 5.7 million for FFXII (PS3 + 360). Due to the nature of the DS, DQIX sales should have much better legs. I don't know if it will pass FFXII but the mere fact that it is competitive is amazing considering how much hype and development time went into FFXIII. DQIX will be the best selling of the series.

Oh, I would LOVE to see it happen. Unfortunately, DQ is not a series known for its legs either. It might close the gap a bit more, but it's not going to catch up to or pass FF13. My guess is that the final difference will be about 1 million in FF's favor, with both games getting about equal boosts from their inevitable price cuts.

The thing is competition on the DS is really high, so its hard for something like DQ to have strong legs. but DQ8 sold about 0.6mil in the EU and US each, and this time Nintendo is marketing, so i think it has the potential to reach about 0.8 maybe 1mil in the EU and US. i would be amazed if it did outsell FF13. but that would be awesome, hopefully theres really strong word of mouth!

I would hope DQIX can outsell FFZIII. I found it to be a much better game personally.

I would love for that to happen. Nintendo is marketing the game like crazy and is showing  good legs in worldwide sales. Dragon Quest IX is such a great game that deserves each and everyone of it's sales.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the PS3 version of FFXIII alone be above DQIX when all is said and done.

Two things spring to mind;

1: How many units has FFXII sold lately? Its a rather old PS2 title after all (funny enough though, it appears to have sold exactly 5.7 million ).

2: I did not realize that FFXIII on the 360 had sold this poorly (1.5 million is hardly poor for a game but its damn near atrocious for a FF title).
