Forums - Gaming - Game ideas thread (again)

I would like to make an RPG where you are a dog.

The dog can "impress" people by wagging its tail and acting lovable or the dog can act aggressive to "intimidate" people. More options can be added, like the dog making puppy eyes and so on

These options will be given and more could be unlocked as you play along. The dog will be able to converse with all other animals, whenever a dog needs to converse with a HUMAN it will open up a kind of mini game that you need to get a certain score in for the human to understand what the dog wants of it. If the dog fails in the minigame, the actions the human will carry out will be selected at random.

The game will flow in a kind of real time, when its 6 PM the dog will have to return to home, to its owner. More minigames will be unlocked here that the dog can do to increase his skills. Each minigame takes up "2 hours" of time in the dogs world.

The dog will need to sleep by 12 PM in order to wake up fresh and have all his stats at an optimum level, for every hour spent awake after 12 PM the stats for the next day will be temporarily down by 1.

The minigames I mentioned will require skills, they won;t be "Casual crappy minigames"....like one minigame could be a 2D platformer where you need to exterminate mites that could be on the dog's fur!

I haven't thought of a plot but thats the general gist of what I was thinking!

Interesting, a reverse Pet Sim XD

I believe there was a game last gen, where you played the role of a dog, being able to have "smellovision".

A kind of Pet Sim RPG/Platformer.

I'm thinking relationships could also be added towards family members, say if you have a great relationship with your owners son, then that can give you the ability to convince the son to let you out of the house early, so you can progress the story.

I haven't thought of a story yet, I think it might be better to make the story fit into the gameplay instead of compromising gameplay for the story.

Now what story could ya do with a  dog.....hmmmm

I think if you're going to make an RPG like that you HAVE to allow animal to animal communication, and add animal characters.

In fact, I won't take a realistic approach at all, but go for a more Japanese story approach.

Animal to animal communication will definetely be there. I think I should allow actually being able to talk to animal NPC's from birds to cats to other dogs.

But I'm reluctant to have direct dog to human communication, some interesting things can be done there.

What do you mean by a Japanese story approach BTW?

More about going around town, helping out animals, helping out kids and old people. Doing mini games with other animals, etc.

*Points at Oblivion*

*Points at Demon's Souls*

*Points at Baldur's Gate*

Simply. An RPG with 3 view points. A First Person view like Oblivion's for each every character in your party. A 3rd person view like Demon's Souls, for each character. And an over-head view like Baldur's Gate's, if you want to control each character.

You control one of 3-6 Characters in your Party, depending on the difficulty of the playthrough. 6 Maximum for Casual. 5 Maximum for Normal. 4 Maximum for Hard. 3 Maximum for Insanity. 2 Maximum for an un-lockable yet to be named mode

Huge game world with tons of places to visit. Not all big cities, and not all in need of aid. Quiet forests, huge Deserts, tranquil lakes, snowy tundras. World map like that in the original Baldur's Gate. But every area you can visit on the map is huge in comparison to the maps IN Baldur's Gate.

Typical classic WRPG fantasy setting. Orcs, Dragons, Goblins, Ogres, Demons... Etc.

You can rest at anytime you please, but you get more HP/MP back if you use a Tent. Tents are findable/buyable depending where you go. You are also less likely to be woken by enemies when using a Tent.

Thousands of different weapons and armors available for whatever classes you choose to be/ recruit for your group.

Thousands of spells for Clerics and Mages of all kinds.

Full character customization.

The game even features some RTS elements for when you get your castle/keep. You have to defend it twice from 2 huge armies. That's part of the story though so i wont go into that There is also a huge battle that you participate in around the middle of the game.

When you DO beat the game, you have the option to import your character. When you do this, you can continue playing the game after the final (story) bosses are defeated, being able to import your save file at any time. So if you find something new or gain a new level (You will) you can import it straight onto your next save game.

I probably missed some stuff but, yeah. That's pretty much the basics

They should make a fictional WWII shooter where you can play as Germany/Japan and defeat the allies and take over (and enslave) all Europeans and America. I'd buy it if it was decent.
