Ok why would sony's division go bankrupt?  Is this a legit question ?  The walstreet journal had an article that Sony's most recent posting showed their PC & Gaming Division ( which includes the PS3 ) lost money.  As a whole ( mostly thanks to Sony's financial services division Sony posted a fair profit.  But the gaming division didn't make any money and again was in the red and had to be bailed out.  Converse to that, the Xbox division ( by itself after paying bills ) posted a net profit of 38 million... We don't even have to mention nintendo who has tons of money from its record sales..

what does this have to do with PS division going bankrupt and PS game division was mostly due their hardware prodcution changing, etc

they for sure this year will make profit and a good one and even on PS3

So looking at  console sales and game sales doesnt tell us what the executives are thinking, because at MS and Sony they are thinking two very different things although you wouldnt think MS being up in consoles by only 5 million would matter, you have to factor in 360 is still cheaper to make,  over the life of the console ( so far ) XB360 has sold about 50 million more games then the PS3 ( thats nearly 3 billion dollars ) , and lastly MS makes alot from Xbox Live.

again what doesn't this have to do with anything we discussed

So as a fan of Sony you might be wondering why Sony doesnt just drop the price.  There's no way they can win a price war right now with Microsoft whose cost to make 360's is lower.

wat.i never thought they would drop price, the other guy did about PSP that too

and why does this all have to do with PS division going bankrupt.

360 is dropping  very much now.wonder what it will settle on

Yup, but so is the PS3. Only 1 month away before Halo Reach, so it's not going to settle for long. After that the holiday months start to kick in again. In Others it'll probably drop to 60-65K until Halo Reach is released and then shoot back over 100K and stay there for the rest of the year.  Sony still has GT5 though, so that will definitely boost their PS3 sales, as least in Japan and Others.

The POINT is in 2010 Sony still reported a yearly loss (and for this most recent year also ) despite better sales from the Playstation Division.. YOU SAID IT HAD TO DO WITH HARDWARE PRODCUTION CHANGE.  ARE YOU KIDDING ME ?  Each year they have lowered the cost to make a PS3 and yet it still cost more to make a PS3 then what they sell it for !!

According to The Wall Street Journal, which examined Sony's fiscal third-quarter financial performance, the company loses 6 cents on "every dollar of PS3 hardware sales." Considering the PlayStation 3 current retails for $300, we can safely assume then, that the company loses about $18 per unit. (Feb 2010)  source: http://news.cnet.com/8301-13506_3-10448137-17.html

So the the reply and point to ANYONE who wonders why they don't just lower the price of any gaming product ( that they sell) to "compete" with anyone doing better then they are ( in this case Nintendo and MS) doesnt understand the PS3 is has fallen far from what the PS2 and PS1 - which those products put tons of money in the bank and this product has done the opposite.  With no money it means less price cuts unless you want to go bankrupt.   Lets sum it up, they put out a product that is bringing in ZERO profit after paying the bills..

Over half of the PSP sales are in the MEAA area acording to the chart, never noticed that before but I assume its been going on for a long time.  Not a good sign for PSP in Europe.

Yup, but so is the PS3.

didn't you read the thread.i already explained what i was comparing it too

Only 1 month away before Halo Reach, so it's not going to settle for long.

yeah but HALO reach would only give it 1-2 week boost not up the 360 sales forever

again REACH will benefit numbers but they won't be forever and, they will go down again before goig up in late october and why i was comparin is at current rate it will come to PS3/360 levels when it should be higher and when HOLIDAY boost arrive, even Wii and PS3 would get boost so even if 360 has a higher sales than now,it wouldn't be much higher than 360 and might even get outsold

Depending on how sales look this winter...MS has more room for a temporary sale (Holiday Price Cut ) to push a high volume.. it'll really depends.  If MS continues outselling PS3 even by just a 'few' thousand thru the rest of the year they might not cut at all, especially in the USA where they are up 10.5 million, but in other parts of the world where they want to grow its very possible.

Gamescom should have plenty for PSP.

I can't see them leaving it alone AGAIN. Last year was the PS3's time to shine, this year should be PSP's.

While I don't think Sony will focus mainly on PSP... Far from it. I DO see them revealing either PSP2, PSP 4000, PS Phone or hugely cutting the price of the PSP 3000/Go.

Along with that though... I see PS3 getting a new bigger HDD Model, plenty of PS Move stuff and the introduction of Colours for PS3.

The 360 seems just fine for the Holidays. Arcade, Halo Bundles and Kinect should be more than enough to ensure a huge Holiday.

DS will have a huge Holiday everywhere. It's the DS. Just look at it's sales now in the slow months....

Wii... I just don't know. It's increased this week so it looks like this is the new level for Wii. I don't see anything making sales as big as last year though. Expect it to continue being pretty far down YoY.

for 2010?it isn't over yet

the 09-2010 year consisted last years losses too

despite better sales from the Playstation Division.. YOU SAID IT HAD TO DO WITH HARDWARE PRODCUTION CHANGE.  ARE YOU KIDDING ME ?  Each year they have lowered the cost to make a PS3 and yet it still cost more to make a PS3 then what they sell it for !!

more sales don't make the loss lesser it actually makes the loss greater as more sales more loss by selling mkore products

the porduction change thing was because SONY have been making profit on PS3 since JAN-MAR 2010 but recently they has 40nm implemntation in production in may

they will be back making profit

According to The Wall Street Journal, which examined Sony's fiscal third-quarter financial performance, the company loses 6 cents on "every dollar of PS3 hardware sales." that is so much bullshit.wallstreet journal is smoking pot, disn't they report the false blizzard 100m budget

and those figure are old,in what time are you living.SONY CFO itslef said PS3 made profit in Q1 2010 and is making even more since the 40nm RSX introduction

So the the reply and point to ANYONE who wonders why they don't just lower the price of any gaming product ( that they sell) to "compete" with anyone doing better then they are ( in this case Nintendo and MS) doesnt understand the PS3 is has fallen far from what the PS2 and PS1 -

who the fuck is even wondering that, nobody did.you are making ur own situations and trying to make ur own answers about them

which those products put tons of money in the bank and this product has done the opposite.  With no money it means less price cuts unless you want to go bankrupt.

that is an overstatement.pricecut beyond capacity makes a loss but it doesn't make you bankrupt.if SONY didn't go bankrupt in 2006,2007,2008,2009 THEY CERTAINLY WION'T GO BANKRUPT NOW

and both PS3 and PSP have room for price cuts now and even that with out a loss

Lets sum it up, they put out a product that is bringing in ZERO profit after paying the bills..

you are misinformed.as of now they are making profit.

again who the hell did bring in the price cut now.even sony can deliver a price cut without loss now and they will have a bigger impact as price is higher but nobody is even considering that

stop making your own situation again and again and again

it'll really depends.  If MS continues outselling PS3 even by just a 'few' thousand thru the rest of the year they might not cut at all, especially in the USA where they are up 10.5 million, but in other parts of the world where they want to grow its very possible.

atm the moment we are depending on the current prices and i was talking about current sales sliding

lol at all the psp haters in this thread..well this forum in general :D I mean seriously...it sold 3:1 last year to ds it does the same this year...it's not dead or anything, heck it has not had a proper price cut in ages even. Oh well this is useless to even say here, cuz some here actually thought Rage is a racer that can take on GT5 :S

Anywho on the numbers, 360 decreased sales but still not bad at all..it should be interesting to see how it does in the coming weeks with the arcade slim getting released in EMAA

PS3 is still rock steady despite strong performance by the competition....impressive considering there haven't been many major exclsuives of late for the system as well

PsP and Ds are doing just fine...
