Ok why would sony's division go bankrupt? Is this a legit question ? The walstreet journal had an article that Sony's most recent posting showed their PC & Gaming Division ( which includes the PS3 ) lost money. As a whole ( mostly thanks to Sony's financial services division Sony posted a fair profit. But the gaming division didn't make any money and again was in the red and had to be bailed out. Converse to that, the Xbox division ( by itself after paying bills ) posted a net profit of 38 million... We don't even have to mention nintendo who has tons of money from its record sales..
what does this have to do with PS division going bankrupt and PS game division was mostly due their hardware prodcution changing, etc
they for sure this year will make profit and a good one and even on PS3
So looking at console sales and game sales doesnt tell us what the executives are thinking, because at MS and Sony they are thinking two very different things although you wouldnt think MS being up in consoles by only 5 million would matter, you have to factor in 360 is still cheaper to make, over the life of the console ( so far ) XB360 has sold about 50 million more games then the PS3 ( thats nearly 3 billion dollars ) , and lastly MS makes alot from Xbox Live.
again what doesn't this have to do with anything we discussed
So as a fan of Sony you might be wondering why Sony doesnt just drop the price. There's no way they can win a price war right now with Microsoft whose cost to make 360's is lower.
wat.i never thought they would drop price, the other guy did about PSP that too
and why does this all have to do with PS division going bankrupt.

The POINT is in 2010 Sony still reported a yearly loss (and for this most recent year also ) despite better sales from the Playstation Division.. YOU SAID IT HAD TO DO WITH HARDWARE PRODCUTION CHANGE. ARE YOU KIDDING ME ? Each year they have lowered the cost to make a PS3 and yet it still cost more to make a PS3 then what they sell it for !!
According to The Wall Street Journal, which examined Sony's fiscal third-quarter financial performance, the company loses 6 cents on "every dollar of PS3 hardware sales." Considering the PlayStation 3 current retails for $300, we can safely assume then, that the company loses about $18 per unit. (Feb 2010) source: http://news.cnet.com/8301-13506_3-10448137-17.html
So the the reply and point to ANYONE who wonders why they don't just lower the price of any gaming product ( that they sell) to "compete" with anyone doing better then they are ( in this case Nintendo and MS) doesnt understand the PS3 is has fallen far from what the PS2 and PS1 - which those products put tons of money in the bank and this product has done the opposite. With no money it means less price cuts unless you want to go bankrupt. Lets sum it up, they put out a product that is bringing in ZERO profit after paying the bills..
