Forums - Sales - Microsoft set 5 million goal for Fable III plus a more casual oriented game

Just for the record fable II is at 3.7 million

Development boss Peter Molyneux has high hopes for 360 edition of RPG sequel

UK developer Lionhead may be inundated with speculation regarding a certain boy-talking Kinect game, but Peter Molyneux reckons the third Fable game will generate the biggest buzz come October.

The development maestro has told MCV he expects Fable III to grow into the biggest selling game of the series so far, even topping 2008’s sales triumph.

And although Molyneux is famous for big promises and a spot of verbal ambiguity, the Microsoft Game Studio European creative director was clear on what he expects from the title come release on Friday, October 29th.

“We want more than five million people playing Fable III on the Xbox 360, full stop,” he told MCV.

The game’s sales projection echoes its design remit to be less intimidating for more casual audiences.

there's no way that Fable 3 is going to hit that target IMO. the game is going to reach at a max of 4million.

Fable 2 sold 1 million more than Fable

So it stands a chance imo.

4m for 360 1m for PC

sounds plausible

With the delay of the PC version, added into account with piracy for 360 games. I think it will match Fable 2's numbers but not exceed them..

"We want more than five million people playing Fable III on the Xbox 360"

That's not what they're aiming for.

Fable II was a pretty casual experience to begin with, so I hope they don't over do it with the "casual experience". Also with shipped numbers I believe they can reach that 5 million mark.

" Rebellion Against Tyrants Is Obedience To God"

While I would love for this to happen, I don't think it's a terribly realistic goal.  Fable 3 will probably top out around 4M just like Fable 2.

I freaking Love Fable but there is no way that Fable 3 sells 5 million.

Also more casual?.......this really makes me worried since Fable 2 was great but too easy as it is.....this could be a very very bad sighn IMO

If you're going to read into it like that, then it doesn't need to sell five million copies on the 360 either.
