Please do not take anything that I have posted to mean that it is not possible for Sony to sell half a million consoles in India. There are after all a billion people in that country.

However, if that had happened, don't you think Sony would have sold 500K consoles in India, the would be trumping it from the highest mountain (is that Mt. Fuji in Japan?)

Mike from Morgantown

Everest is the tallest on this planet, there are significantly taller on other planets in this solar system however and presumably there are even taller on other planets out in the Cosmos.

I could be off but I do believe the tallest in this sytem are on Io which again iirc is a moon of Jupiter.

OT: I think he's referring to the highest mountain in Japan since Sony is based there which last I heard was Fuji.

But yeah, no way india has sold that much.  Why do people even bother listening to this guy?

Here is a simple reason for it:

The initial shipment of PS3 to India was <........drumroll.........> 1200 units. Sony's aim for this fiscal year (ending March 2008) is selling 10000 units (pricecut pending around these days).

So the guy who estimated 670 PS3 (officially) sold is probably pretty close to reality. There are, of course, a few PS3s imported from wherever, so a good guess would be around 2000-10000 PS3s in India at the moment

As far as I know, India still uses Rupees.

Can you even buy a PS3 with Zelda currency?

PS3 has, however, been available in India through grey market just a week after it was launched in Japan and the US in last November.
