hopelly this reboot works.

How is it a reboot?  Isn't it a uh... "interquel" or something?

It went from a side scooler to a FPS and now a TPS/fps what do you call it then.

A cluttered mess that vaguely resembles Metroid.

That's correct!

Hey our points are completely unrelated and we could both be right.  A reboot is when the franchise starts over and pretends the other games didn't happen, story-wise, like the new Mortal Kombat, the new Medal of Honor, the new James Bond, Batman, and Star Trek movies.  Switching genres has nothing to do with it.

Also, why are you guys so mad at this one?  I played the whole demo.  It's pretty fun.  Are you mad that it's switching genres again, or mad that it's suddenly pulling a story out of its ass and expecting us to care?

And what's a side-scooler?

Medal of Honour doesn't pretend the other games didn't happen storywise. Their just in a different time-period

The best action game of 2010!

September can't come soon enough

On an unrelated note, I remember a while ago when people were claiming that Ninja Gaiden on the XBOX was better looking than all Wii games.  The people defending the Wii stated that if Team Ninja made a Wii game it would be graphically superior to NJ, and from the looks of it, it is!

The Metroid series has never had a reboot.  Even Metroid Prime, which jumped into 3D, was more of a 'reimagining' of the Metroid style than a reboot.  As evidence of Metroid Creator Sakamoto working on more traditional 2D games while Metroid Prime was out.  And now making a game that looks to do the same thing in a 3D relm.  And all of them are still connected by story.

If anything, Metroid Other M is an 'update' to 3D much like Ocarina of Time was for Zelda.  And as much as people loved Metroid Prime (as did I), it really didn't capture the 'feel' of playing a Metroid game.  That is, dashing through corridors and shooting enemies at a moments notice.  It was exactly was it was, a first person adventure that focused more on exploration than puzzles or combat.

Everything I've seen from this game looks to be what Metroid Prime was trying to do but couldn't.

Six upcoming games you should look into:

Sorry to burst your bubbles, but shouldn't this be posted on the the Official thread. I mean it was made (and stickied) so we wouldn't have multiple threads of the same upcoming game.

Anyway, this is already a thumbs up game! ;)

Well, the amount of game related threads are nearly dried up, so we actually need threads like these!
