Forums - Nintendo - Wii Motion Plus, 1 year later

Nintendo's support is fine in my opinion. Let's not forget that although Nintendo makes it look easy, releasing a new peripheral isn't always a 20M success. WSR and mplus could have bombed and we would have Zelda already.

Mplus is just turning a year old and it's been used in every game so far that would benefit. Granted that's only WSR from Nintendo but what other Nintendo games should it have been used in? Galaxy 2 and Metroid wouldn't have benefitted.

Tennis and Golf have been done. Zangeki needs a western release and that will cover swords, giant axes, archery, spears, magic staffs. Zelda will cover some of the same ground and add whips, bowling bombs, fly-by-wire beetles and who knows what else. Starfox and/or Pilotwings will be announced for next year to cover flight controls. I'm not sure there is much else to expect from Nintendo, Project Hammer maybe. Is Mario Sports Mix using it?

Lucasarts is sat on a gold mine with tie fighters and lightsabers. Namco should rip off WSR Duel for Soul Calibur. They're the obvious ones and that's just from the ideas in WSR. We can't expect 3rd party's to be original can we?

Who said there aren't games being made for it?(unannounced)

Above: still the best game of the year.

If Microsoft of Sony sell as many motion control add-ons as Nintendo has, they'll be insanely happy.  Unfortunately, nothing for the WM has convinced me to buy one.  That'll change when Zeld comes out, of course.  I just figured that the WM would have cured cancer, stopped all war, and saved my marriage by now.

I'm disappointed by the lack of Motion Plus support as well.

I did not expect many Motion Plus exclusive games. From a game developers view, the advantage of better precision does not outweigh the disadvantage that only few people have WM .

But I thought that more games would have optional WM support and make good use of it.

The situation may change with Skyward Sword though. Being WM exclusive and guaranteed to sell at least 10 millions, that game will also lead to millions of WM being sold, making WM much more attractive to developers.

"Lucasarts  sat on a gold mine with tie fighters and lightsabers." - and did nothing. I just don't get this idiocy. They've had 2 years to make it happen (MP was announced AND made available to developers 2 years ago), the Star Wars light saber game people kept fantasizing about in forums years ago, and LucasArts did nothing. There are LOTS of MP already out there. But when they do come out with such a game eventually, it will of course support Move, even if Move has at the time a 2-3 million demographic. And before you say "of course", note that not only Lego Star Wars but also Force Unleashed sold better on the Wii than on the PS3.

Currently Playing: Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked, Professor Layton and the Curious Village

Anticipating: Xenoblade, The Last Story, Mario Kart 7, Rayman Origins, Zelda SS, Crush3D, Tales of the Abyss 3DS, MGS:Snake Eater 3DS, RE:Revelations, Time Travellers, Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney, Luigi's Mansion 2, MH TriG, DQ Monsters, Heroes of Ruin

"the disadvantage that only few people have WM" Err... you do realize that between WSR, Tiger Woods 10 and RS2  there have already been at least 20 million WMP sold (if not more), right?

Probably still pissed that ninty allowed them to create Lightsaber Duels without the knowledge of WM being developed simultaneously. The game was pretty much complete when it was announced. Would have surely been a better game.

Balance Board = Very well defined and clever add-on = Huge success, despite not so many games for it (And the same could happen to MS, if it avoids shoveling it with Wii rip-offs and it keeps original instead).

WM Plus = Afterthought (although a clever one) = Moderate success with few games, but Nintendo couldn't really hope for more (And the same will maybe apply to PS Move, unless Sony does everything right from marketing to games line-up choice).

As XB360 and PS3 overpricing at launch allowed Nintendo to apply a launch price $50 higher than initially planned, it should have included WM Plus functions since the beginning.

The Mplus tech was the size of an aeroplane's nosecone when the Wii was announced. Moderate success? It's on par with the balance board. BB was for new types of games, Mplus is for improved controls of current games. It's barely been a year. Aren't we expected to wait 18 months for 'hardcorez' Kinect games? We're guaranteed Zelda within 18 months and had Red Steel 2 within 6.

How was the 360 and PS3 overpriced if they were selling at a loss?

2) Overpriced for average buyers' pockets.

1) Much of the additional space needed by WM Plus is for its case and connector, not needed including it in a slightly longer Wiimote, Ninty in its first marketing suggested there would have been 1:1 tracking, but it removed it for costs reasons, not space ones, from the final design, when it was still planning to price it around $200, though. The current gyroscopes and accelerometers are really tiny, but the ones available when Wii launched were bigger, sure, but not huge by any means.
