good read, I felt the same about lair.

However, I couldnt put down HS! I loved it, and don't regret buying it.

Also, how was assasins creed? It's taking up valuable space on my Christmas list.

AC is amazing. Really enjoying it at the moment; as reviews say the gameplay can get a bit repetitive, but i enjoyed doing it all the same.

Bladeneo speaks truth. Eventually, I'll put up a review for Assassin's Creed, but not until after I've played the whole game. I'm not motivated to finish Lair, but I definitely want to spend more time with Heavenly Sword. The story alone is worth it.  I want HS to break a million, cause I think it deserves to.

Pretty spot on with my opinions of both titles as well Dolla... I did get two playthroughs of HS on a rental and it will most likely become a game I'll pick up when it hits $20. I barely finished Lair though, the only real reason being that I wouldn't let frustration get the better of me.... I still say that's a real shame though :(

HS does deserve to sell a million

The controls in Lair were not reliable enough.  I know what the developer was trying to do; I listened to a podcast with him trying to make excuses.  However, the problem was not the Sixaxis!  It was the controls themselves.  Analog does not solve the problem because I played it on my PSP with the analog stick.  You can not go where you want to go enough.  I know you are the rider but you should have good controls in a game.  The dragon needs to be more in tune with its rider.

Using 2 sticks wouldn't have mattered.  They just needed to fix the controls.  If you want to experience great Sixaxis control with flight, then play Warhawk.  It's not the controller, it's the developer, just like the Wiimote with Red Steal versus MoH: H2.

I disagree about the button sequences (for Heavenly Sword, they were pointless in Lair). Well, I do agree that they're tacked on a little bit in normal gameplay, but they're cool for the bosses. However, I think that it's much easier than God of War because it requires you to hit the buttons faster as well as changing up the patterns (which makes you that much more twitchy).

*edit*

As for Lair, it's more than just controls that keep the game down. Mainly, you had to turn the controller nice and smooth for it to regsiter the best (especially with doing 180's), but sometimes some problems would occure. The lock-on system was a chore too, but it is possible to get around some of it's problems by fly at what you want to aim at and merely wait till it gets highlighted by the targeting system (it should eventaully as you get closer). At first it was cool to fly a dragon and shoot things, but like all of Factor 5's Star Wars games, it suffers from the same problems (in my opinion). The in-game cutscenes are annoying and while the acting is okay, it doesn't really fit into the environment of the game itself. Lets not even go near the final level.....

There is definitely a delay when controlling a dragon in lair. When I move the Playstation 3 controller, the dragon responds after 0.5 seconds, which may seem short, but definitely isn't. I've constantly been smashing into things, because of the delayed response of the controller. The graphics aren't even that great, and the game just gets boring after a while.

The best parts of heavenly sword (mostly) are the Kai parts, not the Nariko parts.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

awesome impressions. It looks like it's gonna stay on my list.

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

Dolla, you have to realize that you're playing Lair with improved controls. Sony updated the PS3, adding slightly better response controls to the game. It was complete and utter shit before that update. I absolutely loathe the game.

As for HS, ignoring how short it is, it's a pretty damned fine game. The voice acting by Andy Serkis is incredibly funny and Aftertouch is brilliant. I pretty much agree with your impressions of the game. I just wish there was more to it. A hair over 5 hours for $60 just doesn't cut it in my book.

if i had a ps3, i would buy heavenly sword for 20-30 dollars
