Except that the whole point of this site is to track how many consumers have actually bought the hardware, not how many are consoles are sitting in warehouses and store shelves worldwide.

Xoj, didn't you know?  Sony has been "stuffing the channels" for 3 quarters now. 

So the somehow the gap is decreasing while the  360 has been outselling the PS3 WW for the past month? We won't know anything to the end of 2010. And where's the Wii sales in all of this? Is the PS3-Wii gap decreasing too?

Sony is amazing in finding and stuffing new channels, so amazing, that I'm certain I read about it after almost all of their quarterly reports in the last ~2 years.

no they still haft to sell those units. smoke and mirrors don't work. those numbers haft to be reflected in there sells and numbers.

Err, the 360 demand is very high now, which means the moment they hit the shelves they are gone. Meanwhile PS3s are sitting on shelves and "closing the gap". Seriously though, the 360 has actually outsold the PS3 total sales, since PS3 launch date (yes really) so why are we even having this dicussion now? Come back when the PS3 starts outselling the 360 again, since atm its behind worldwide.
