Great numbers for 360 and it deserves to have some success  in europe

Wii is not doomed but its best years are already behind it and this year will be the last with great sales especially in europe

I see Wii selling some 40 million more consoles until it ends its cycle that's my prediction

As trestes said, nintendo is in really difficult spot right now, (its hard to imagine something like that for the number 1 manufacturer) because there next console will need to be reasonably powerful and this comes at a cost if not done correctly and is something sony payed heavily this console cycle long development time for its games  ,it needs to be  innovative, differentiate itself just enough of the wii so that people other than nintendo fans  feel the need to upgrade, and still have a price point that can attract casual buyers, because after the first wave of core buyers, nintendo will need the casual buyers if it wants to repeat the success story that was the wii

The 360 should be doing better?

It is the middle of summer, proven to be one of the slowest time for hardware sales.  The new 360 launched with just a redesign NO PRICE CUT.

It's out of stock everywhere almost still.

There is zero hardware pushing software released in the past couple weeks.

and its outselling every single platform on the market.

So how exactly should it be doing better i'm just honestly curious.

Well, I can explain that part of the difference is that tax is both included, and higher, in Europe. VATs (value added taxes) of 20% are not unheard of over there, whereas the highest I've heard of in the US is Chicago at 11.5%. Here, at a paltry 5% tax (which is low nationwide), the 360s 250 GB would cost me $315, or $4 more than the pound price. So actually, we're paying more for the 360 than Europe. Assuming a 20% tax for Europe (some countries are more, some are less, I know), that puts the Wii at around a $33 overcharge to the US, and the PS3s at about $21-24 over, much closer to being in line.

im betting majority are upgraders.

That's why every post has a report button. We obviously don't see every thread, and even with my prior post in this thread, it was done by a quick skim of the it, not a detailed look of every post. I do that to anything i see that was reported.

- It had BIG stock clearing sales which counted for a lot of sales

- It has had marketing, the PS3 Slim had less marketing from the off

- One of the biggest 360 flaws has been addressed (in the eyes of the public) - RROD

- Great upgrade offers were present (at least in the UK)

- It is an upgrade, wheras the PS3 Slim seemed like a downgrade

- This is the 'newest' console and it is CHEAPER than the competition

- Low stock = MS's fault

Don't get me wrong, it's doing very well - but those are potential reasons as to why it should be doing better/could be doing better. So please don't go through each point replying as this thread will go off.

I admit it's exceeded my expectations by a lot though.
