Forums - Gaming - Dry spell in gaming?

I don't know what to say.  Maybe it's because we're so far into this generation and you're ready for the next big thing?  I mean Gears is one of the biggest series in gaming and it's coming in less than a year.  Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is the sequel to one of gaming's most beloved franchises.  Killzone 3 and Halo Reach are set to blow their respective audiences away.  Limbo just released on XBLA and it's said to rival Braid as one of the best 2D games around.  Metroid will be here in a few months for Wii owners.  Kinect and Move are on the lips of gamers everywhere.  I just don't know what to tell you.  The good games are there.  The good games are coming.

You know how it is when you see a girl you really like?  You want her, you chase her, if you're lucky, you finally get her.  It's the greatest moment of your life!  And then all of a sudden, you sorta miss the chase.  You start finding things wrong when really, there's nothing wrong and she's the same girl she always was?  Well, that's what you're doing.  You're getting everything you should need/want but you want to be challenged.  You want something to chase.  Just sit back and enjoy.  Like you said, you're not bored.  Play what you have and what's available, now.  If you spend all of your time being wired up for the next big thing, then when the next big thing comes (like how the next big things are coming--we DID just have E3, didn't we?) you won't feel the excitement because you never came down from your high.

If you're drunk all the time, you can't appreciate a good drink.  If every day is a sunny day, you won't appreciate a sunny day.  Relax.  Good times are 'a comin!

Titty boobs.

I hope you will enjoy it, but after watching the trailer I don't think it will come even remotely close to Wave Race. In this specific case I tend to believe IGN's review more than VGC's. I hope I'm wrong, though.

OT: Ron Gilbert's DeathSpank and Monkey Island 1 and 2 are meanwhile available on PSN, the newest and the HD remakes of the two very best games from one of the best and funniest game developers ever. StarCraft 2 made several million people happy this very week with one of the biggest launches in videogaming history, it even got me hyped and I never played SC1 (from Blizzard's RTS games I "only" played WarCraft 1-3). Civilization V and Patrician IV come out in September on PC. Just a few games to be excited about this summer/fall on PS3/PC imo.

Plus, I just bought a 360s so I can finally play Mass Effect 1 and 2 (my laptop can't even handle ME1 properly). Those two together with my first 360 retail purchase Kameo and some great XBLA DL exclusives I just downloaded such as Rez HD and Castle Crashers are enough to get me excited for my new system...

...and there's also DQ IX waiting unopened...I'm in the same boat as d21lewis, too many games excite me.

Now excuse me, I'm off to help DeathSpank - Vanquisher of Evil!, Hero to the Downtrodden!, Dispenser of Justice! - on his quest to save the world from the evil Lord Von Prong. I already got the ultimate weapon.

I've never played Wave Race, but Hydro Thunder is a good game, and that IGN review is utter trash if you ask me. They mention bad menus and horrible load times. I don't know what game that guy is playing, but the menu is actually easier than other racers I've played (I'm looking at you Forza) and there are no freaking load times to speak of. It would be different if the reviewer had some legitimate points, but instead it's a troll fest and borderline blatant lying about the game by someone who claims to be a "Hydro Thunder fan" but imo never wanted to like the game at all. Oh and multiplayer with rubber duck mode is pretty awesome. Cool to hear you have a 360 now though, I know you'll probably find a lot of XBLA games to enjoy.

It's accurate up to last gen except there are some GBA games that I can't find and New Super Mario Bros. for the DS is missing but I still have the case.  Sometimes, I loan my little sis a game and she keeps it for months and months and months, though.  I never got around to putting in my PS1, Snes, Genesis, or N64 games.  For the most part, if a game is in my profile, it's somewhere in this house!

I just don't have a lot of debt.  I tend to save money for whatever I wanted instead of getting buried in finance charges.  No loans, no credit cards, etc.  Plus, I make a budget at the beginning of each month and I don't deviate (unless it's something important like comic books or video games!) I have a decent amount of money left over whenever I'm done paying my bills.

To clarify, this isn't if you have no games to play. Like I said, I'm busy playing games right now.

I'm talking about HYPE. There's no fucking hype for anything. Whatever hype there is, is for fucking BS shit.

Well, if you ignore the people who are hyped for certain games and game related stuff coming up ofcourse there is no hype..........

I'm almost in a similar situation. I have purchased a lot of games this generation, and they were fun, but the only game so far that has truly excited me was MGS4. Right now, I'm hyped for only three games, Sorcery, The 3rd Birthday, and The Last Guardian.

Every July, this happens, and every July, people complain and use it as proof that the industry is dying.

Look, E3 was a month ago, the holiday season is in four months, gamescom is tiny, sales aren't overly exciting. Like every July.

This holiday's line-up is head and shoulders above that of last year, and head, shoulders and torso above 2008.
