I hope you will enjoy it, but after watching the trailer I don't think it will come even remotely close to Wave Race. In this specific case I tend to believe IGN's review more than VGC's. I hope I'm wrong, though.
OT: Ron Gilbert's DeathSpank and Monkey Island 1 and 2 are meanwhile available on PSN, the newest and the HD remakes of the two very best games from one of the best and funniest game developers ever. StarCraft 2 made several million people happy this very week with one of the biggest launches in videogaming history, it even got me hyped and I never played SC1 (from Blizzard's RTS games I "only" played WarCraft 1-3). Civilization V and Patrician IV come out in September on PC. Just a few games to be excited about this summer/fall on PS3/PC imo. Plus, I just bought a 360s so I can finally play Mass Effect 1 and 2 (my laptop can't even handle ME1 properly). Those two together with my first 360 retail purchase Kameo and some great XBLA DL exclusives I just downloaded such as Rez HD and Castle Crashers are enough to get me excited for my new system... ...and there's also DQ IX waiting unopened...I'm in the same boat as d21lewis, too many games excite me. Now excuse me, I'm off to help DeathSpank - Vanquisher of Evil!, Hero to the Downtrodden!, Dispenser of Justice! - on his quest to save the world from the evil Lord Von Prong. I already got the ultimate weapon. |
I've never played Wave Race, but Hydro Thunder is a good game, and that IGN review is utter trash if you ask me. They mention bad menus and horrible load times. I don't know what game that guy is playing, but the menu is actually easier than other racers I've played (I'm looking at you Forza) and there are no freaking load times to speak of. It would be different if the reviewer had some legitimate points, but instead it's a troll fest and borderline blatant lying about the game by someone who claims to be a "Hydro Thunder fan" but imo never wanted to like the game at all. Oh and multiplayer with rubber duck mode is pretty awesome. Cool to hear you have a 360 now though, I know you'll probably find a lot of XBLA games to enjoy.
