I do agree, most DS million seller looks terrible graphically, you just come across like you just really don't like Nintendo as a company. "Hate" is a strong, I should have said you seem to dislike Nintendo on a person level. I understand you not liking a company because you don't agree with their and that's great because it's sparks good debates but alot of time it just comes off like you trying to attack anything about Nintendo cause mad at them let they did something to you personally.

No.  That's like saying the PS2 will beat out all the other next-gen consoles.  The only reason the PS2 and GBA keep selling is because they have a super low price and a huge games library.  Over time the newer systems drop in price and build up a large games library of their own.  In a few years, with no DS, the PSP would be slaughtering the GBA and have the market all to itself.  If Nintendo released the DS or the next GB at that point, PSP would already have stolen most of the market.

People will buy a decent system at a low price than a brilliant system at a high price.

It all comes down to price in the end.

The DS started well and has continued well because it has been cheap....yes it's a decent wee system, with some good games....but I don't see the PSP without good games as well.

If the PSP had released at the same price or just slightly higher than the DS then I think we'd be seeing totally different figures.

Sony has alienated buyers with the PSP because of the price.  People seem to think that they should only be paying $150 or less for a handheld not $250, the same is happening with the PS3, because it is double the price of the competitors it is alienating potential buyers apart from the hardcore.

First and foremost the price is the killer.  Just like the PS2, the GBA would still be selling loads especially if it was lowered to a ridiculously low price like $50 or so....just like the PS2 that can be picked up for half that of a Wii.

By bringing out a really cheap system is winning half the war straight off. 

If that was the case, I would have bought both.  DS because of the games. PSP because it's cool to have with the functionalities.  Actually I didn't buy the DS and looked forward to the NDSL instead.  I bought my GBA not for the games but rather because it was the Famicom Edition.  But I agree price definitely makes a difference.

Well we´ve got DS at 149 Dollars and PSP at 169 - this isn´t such a difference... in Europe you get PSP + game for 199 - this brings us to 149 Euros for the System itself; the same price the DS has.

But yeah if Sony priced the PSP at 149 DOllars at it´s launch we´d probably have different figures today.

However there is a point where a system can be priced as low as it wants - thats the point were the other system is in such a run it can´t be stopped anymore.

games that come in bundles are normally worth 20-30 dollars for handhelds. they never offer you the expensive games unless you buy it full price (at least most stores here in the US). and in europe, PSP games are 50?!?!?! that's total rip-off for both the $50 PSP game and your $149 DS system.

I think the PSP would be doing better if Nintendo never released the DS, but I still don't think it would be doing extremely well and would probably remain in second place to the GBA.

Most of the reasons the PSP continues to be in second place have to do with its games and features.  The system's design and games aren't very portable friendly and the PSP mainly sells to 'hardcore' users.  Nintendo's years of experience and understanding of the portable market have made their line of portable systems the one to beat.  Sadly, Sony didn't take those lessons to heart when designing the PSP.
