Capcom Announce Street Fighter 3rd Strike: Online Edition

By Ishaan . July 24, 2010 . 12:37pm

After asking fans to look forward to the 3DS version of Super Street Fighter IV at his panel at the San Diego Comic-Con, producer, Yoshinori Ono, revealed that he is working on an online edition of Street Fighter 3rd Strike.

While the game won’t be releasing any time soon, as development only began recently, Ono asks that fans voice their requests for the online edition at Capcom’s community site. Ono is open to adding new features to the game.

Capcom have yet to announce how many platforms the game will be made available for, but it’s safe to assume it will appear on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 at the very least. A re-release of Street Fighter 3rd Strike has been a topic addressed by Capcom USA — who are primarily responsible for spearheading the company’s fighting game projects — on numerous past occasions as well.

I'll most likely buy this even though I wasn't a huge fan of Street Fighter 3 simply for the online play.

I'd assume it'll be at least like the Marvel vs Capcom 2 rerelease.  Up-rezed sprites, the works.

All I know is Third Strike is the best Street Fighter.  <3

I don't play much Street Fighter, but I do play Third Strike.  Me and my friends spent hours playing that back in high school.   It was right up there with Melee.

Haven't played it much since then, since I never had a copy myself, but I love that game.

I don't know.  Parrying in SF3 required such split second timing that I'm not sure it can be replicated online.  But, since I have SF3 third strike on the Dreamcast and as part of the Street Fighter Collection on PS2, I guess I'll start practicing.  When this game releases (with my awesome SF controller), I'm going to be unbeatable!!

Thats cheating! you have to play when evrybody else does!

I hope they give it the HD treatment and some re-balancing.
