so americans feel that their teens and kids are so irresponsible and retarded that a video game will affect how they act in life.

in my country i can go and buy any game i want :)

Yes.  In the U.S. we also believe that watching Geico commercials between the hours of 2 and 4 A.M. causes cancer.  We are an odd bunch.  Don't worry about what Geico is, since you might not know if you aren't American.

I saved 15% on my car insurance, ask me how!

OT: I've been ID'd for games before when I was well above the age of 17 :P  Last one was Doom 3 when I was 26 :P

I just looked at the girl and said "Are you serious?"  Alcohol and Cigarettes I get all the time, that's 19, but a game, was LOL'ing to myself.

Unicorns ARE real - They are just fat, grey and called Rhinos

It really depends how you define "excessively violent". Are we talking God of War (I know ten year olds who've played that game and, believe it or not, they didn't have nightmares or go on killing rampages, but fair enough) or Ratchet and Clank (you beat people to death with a wrench! It's bordering on Manhunt!)

There was a law proposed (by Jack Thompson) which would put a massive box on the front cover saying "Violent Games Cause Aggression" if the game contained any violence. Is this that law?

first of all, many studies have shown that engaging in violent video games have shown no causal link to violent behavior. As a matter of fact, th evidence seems to support the notion that when violent people play these games, they actually give them a chance to vent dangerous emotions and it results in less violent behavior.

Secondly, I don't mind this proposed law. While there can be no law that substitutes for good parenting, I wouldn't mind being able to filter what my 16 y/o son is exposed to. He plays Call of Duty and God of War, as do I. He also knows the limits of what acceptable behavior is. As a parent, I'm not worried about him playing these sort of games.

Just let your parents buy them for you, they'll understand that its OK to play awesome M-Rated games. Most parents play M-rated games.
