I didn't want to add "Screw the Wii" in the title because I thought it was pretty inflammatory and I think his speech about Wii fans is a little out of touch but I can still understand the frustration of older gamers who expected a lot and were left disappointed.

its good than all the old school ninty gamers from my nintendo days dont feel that way and fully enjoy their wiis.I guess is pretty bad that some people are bitter ,but well, good luck for them.Nintendo didnt change, they did, and they hate nintendo for that...

"Your kinda grasping for straw's, listing one or two sequels on the PS3 and 360 doesn't counteract his argument."

Just because he didn't list more doesn't mean there aren't loads more.

Plus new IP is not the same thing as not being a sequel.

I'm not saying there aren't sequel's on the HD consoles, I'm just saying that in terms of great new IPs, Nintendo is lacking.

When I think of new IPs this gen, I remember Resistance, Gears of War, Little Big Planet, Infamous, Crackdown, Alan Wake, Uncharted, Flower, Mass Effect, Shadow Complex and Demon's Souls. Then you have the robust Third Party support. The only new IPs that come to mind when I think of the Wii is the Wii series.

Well it's still not the case that Nintendo hasn't done new IPs. They are just often lower profile. Plus a lot of the new IPs you listed were merely published first party, so going by that we have plenty of new IPs from Nintendo, ranging from Ouendan/Elite Beat Agents, to Xenoblade, to Last Story, to Endless Ocean, to Brain Age, to the Wii series, to Nintendogs, to Trace Memory, to Hotel Dusk, to Glory of Heracles, to Professor Layton.

the problem(and btw Proffesor layton is a huge profile title with much bigger sales -and a movie- than Crackdown and Infamous combined)but that shows how much one sided a player can be).And endless oceans isnt really a modest hit.Its been pretty big.

is that the poster was always looking away fromt the nintendo  games.he turns ignorance into lack of existence.I dont know so they cant exist. The problem is that he knows of the other new ips because he was looking in that direction , and not at nintys. Not to mention, at this point wii third party support is pretty robust too.

And thats the problem with a lot of critics. They use lack of knowledge as their weapon.Thing is, theres too much worthy on the wii and too much to have fun with. With the increased sales of traditional nintendo games like Mkart or Zelda, how can you even asume the nintendo fan left? grannies arent crazy about mario kart, zelda or Smash brothers.Their kids, now adults, are.Im one of those 20 million of Mkart owners and im happy of what nintendo keeps delivering me after decades.

Reading those old Internet comments about Nintendo from the 80's and 90's its clear that Nintendo hasn't changed at all, in fact this gen, they've gone back to their roots, people's memories of the past and their own views on gaming have changed, so don't blame Nintendo if the Wii isn't your cup of tea, perhaps its just not the system for you, if not, there are two other systems to pick from, as well as the PC and Apple products

I don't know about you, but when I buy a new console I expect a lot of new experiences and I don't believe Nintendo have delivered in that regard.

I have seen this several times in this thread, and it is just bullshit.  Nintendo has brought the most new, fresh ideas to gaming this generation.  No one else is even close.

Take away motion controls and they've done nothing of the sort, where is the game that defined how 3D platform games would be played for years after?  Where is the invention of something like Zeldas Z-targeting that would be copied for years?   Its nowehere, because Nintnedo are just making prettier versions of their SNES and N64 games without anything groundbreaking like the originals had.

What makes it worse is Nintendo decided to go with a less powerful console compared to competitors this gen so they don't even have the amazing graphics edge anymore, its all down on game design and they've collapsed backwards 12 years.

That's incorrect, Nintendo has done the thing that will define games going forward, they've reawakened gaming as a mainstream form of entertainment, perhaps it required going back, back to the NES in some regards, but that's a good thing, the path that gaming was on was a sure path to irrelevancy for gaming.  This new path they are on is the path we should have been on from the NES era.

That'S absolutely true, Nintendo awakened once again the market to the mainstream and a Zelda 1:1 motion controls is something more than awesome and groundbreaking, as you call. Mario Galaxy in itself is a very different experience from Mario 64 and is the best 3D Mario game ever. Mario Galaxy brought the power-ups to a new level where each one doesn't really give Mario more chances to win, but offers new gameplay mechanics. The combination of 2D and 3D mechanics, the spherical worlds, the gravity, all are concepts that Galaxy brought and will make bigger changes than you think in Mario's history.

Reawakened gaming as  mainstream form of entertainment?   What nonsense is this, have you not been paying attention the last 20 years?

For that time, videogaming has been targeted mainly at consumers with a teenage mindset. Can you blame everyone else for not being interested?

WHERE IS MY KORORINPA 3

I miss the days when Nintendo released games like Donkey Kong Country, Metroid, Goldeneye, and Kirby.  Those were the good old days.

What the hell kind of tripe is this? If you've played Super Mario Galaxy and you can say with a straight face that their level design (or art design for that matter) has collapsed backwards 12 years, you are just trolling for attention. Period.

Exactly what games on PS3/360 fit your standard of new game design/content? What was the innovation of PS2/XBox/GC gen? I'm very interested to know. Or you are implying we haven't seen anything new in the last 10 years?

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

And Star Fox. Man it would be so nice to see these games again.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
